Best option for Resale value

Hello all,

its been a while since I posted and I still haven't ordered my car but will be in 2 weeks.

So here I am mulling with the options and I am thinking "but in 3 years will it add value?"

it is a company car and I am restricted to how much I am able to contribute therefore cannot spec to full requirements.

The car:
320d MSPORT
Ble Shadow cloth/alcantara
Style 193 18" Alloys
Le mans Blue
Professional navigation
Bluetooth & Voice Control

Now this is where it gets tricky I can go for
1/ Part electric seats (my wife is 4ft 11 and I am 5ft 10 so would make life easier!

I can forgo the part electric seats and go for
2/ front and rear parking and Elec folding mirrors (used to this on my current car)

or the 3rd and final option is
3/ front and rear parking sensors or electric folding mirrors and individual sun protection for the back seats.(for my 3 year old who forever screams "the sun is in my eyes!"

I appreciate my previous post and the comments about prof nav/i-drive and appreciate bi-xenons seemed the option to do but I like my gadgets.

So to remind you of why I post this: which of the 3 options do you think would give best resale after 3 years? (I plan to buy and sell privately)

Thanks and here is to many more posts

PS. Once I receive the car 2 immediate mods will be Blacklines and DMS Remap.

blacklines - rear light cluster takes the red out of the inner quadrant (if I remeber correctly) and had a grey tinge. There are plenty of threads on this

Bit confused as initially you say it is a company car, but then that you are buying and selling privately.

Anyway ..

I don't think any of the options are going to add value at re-sale.

Xenons probably would add a bit, but if you are choosing from this list then just go with whatever you find important.

I'd suggest the electric seats, but it's an individual choice.

I really wouldn't bother with front PDC though ... I had this on my 5 series and don't miss it at all.

It's just that I tend not to drive straight into inanimate objects in forward gear.

Just to focus on the PDC for a second...
The Rear PDC is a no-brainer, but the front is useless 99% of the time. It does depend on your parking circumstances... front PDC has been very useful to me because the entrance to my garage at the rear falls in the backstreets of a housing estate and it can be surrounded by parked cars to the left, right and opposite, so the front sensors really help when making adjustments to line up, as well as remind you about your swing when reversing in narrow backstreets. So unless you're ever likely to be in such situations, it's pointless

As for your options, part-electric seats have always seem rather half-hearted to me, personally (E60 has them). Not sure how they would fair in the eyes of a second hand buyer. I think option 3 is best, gadgets always appeal and you'll be able to protect your son/daughter

Peace

I'm guessing that as I park my car face-first into a garage each night pdc will help a little with that - particular if my wife has to do it? Mind you, I've done fine without it so far.

Yeah it will help, depends on the clearance you have. I have to forgo the parking sensors when going in head-first or in reverse, the E60 is clear of the garage door by a couple of inches, long after the parking sensors are screaming at me to stop!

I'm sure it will come in handy at some point

Or it may annoy you because every time you start the car in the morning it will screech because you are in the 'red zone'.

Since you already know you are close to the wall (because you can see it) you will then turn of PDC to get rid of the noise and promptly back into a parked car.

Agree! This is why I got PDC. Its a nice gadget and looks great on the i-drive screen when you are parallel parking!

That's exactly what a friend has admitted doing in his galaxy

It is a company car I will be having. i pay a contribution but at the end of 3 years i can buy and then keep or sell privately, the latter being what I would do

I assume (as not seen in action the part electric seats) these will tip the back forwards and backwards and the bottom uop and down yet for a horizontal move the lever would still be there.

Agreed and i do a lot of parallel parking and have got use to the reassurance of the beeps!!

There is always the thought of reducing the wheels to 17" and adding more gadgets! What are your thoughts?

Yes, that's how it is on the E60... There is a chance it may differ on 3 series, but I doubt it. There is only one L-shaped switch (on the E60) - the vertical bar of the 'L' tils forwards or backwards to adjust the backrest angle and the horizontal bar of the 'L' moves upwards or downwards for the height adjustment

I would seriously keep the 18inch rims.

Keep the 18" rims. The E90 needs 18"s as a minimum in my opinion. Wheels make a big difference and will help with re-sale over smaller 17"s

I felt I needed that extra inch (fnar fnar)

Besides - I think beauforty is right - big wheels help resale.

I think the 19 inch rims on my 530d added a bit of value.

To be honest I think the 18's make all the difference to the M Sport (also matches the 6 cylinder models (though still got the droopy exhaust)) So 18" is a stayer - sorry for taking us on a wild gosse trip!!
