Yes, just trying to source the right donor, it's been tougher than I though but staying patient. Phase one is front end conversion and interior parts when good deals pop up. Phase 2 is the rear and quarters. I think I'm going to blend my stock LCI rear with the M3 bumper myself as a project until I'm ready to tackle the quarters. For now I'm going to just roll and pull the fenders as much as I can to try and compensate for the front. Might get the duke dynamic diffuser if I get really annoyed with the rear.

Great thread! Glad to see the parts arrived in good shape! I put plenty of fragile stickers all over it.

Sounds good. I'm really interested in the details of the complete swap. I have a good friend who has built an E46 M3 wagon with full subframe/drivetrain swap and also an E39 M5 wagon. We've been discussing the possibility an E91 M3 build for some time...

Had to pull the trigger on a great deal for interior rather than leave it up to chance on the perfect donor.

Oh man, this is great! Are the M3 bits continuing to drop in price? I haven't looked in a while. Interior <$1k?

Nice pickups!

Yes they are, and the leather is much more supple and real feeling (although I'd prefer cloth on both if it was a choice).

Yeah under 1k, I won't say how much more

Need to set up freight today which is going to suck. I've got to figure out the cheapest person to go with. Anyone know tricks or trade secrets? I didn't notice it's far cheaper building an estimate on a site vs calling in for a quote. Let's just hope the cost doesn't adjust somehow when it's actually picked up. I have accurate pallet size, dimensions and weight

Also complete transparency, the interior isn't perfect. There's some significant wear on the side bolster I'll need to take care of and definitely needs a leatherique treatment. Let's see if there are any other issues when it arrives

Have you tried Greyhound? That can be pretty reasonable if it makes sense for you.

Shipping is certainly the crux of seats.

I think I got it figured out. Online quote was 132, when I called in to compare to their quote I got 530, she said that the online quoting is far less expensive vs a manual one on their end, let's just hope I didn't fuck something up and I get charged the difference when they arrive :/

If you haven't already committed. If both of you are near a Fastenal store, they do freight store to store very reasonable.

It was super sunny out, so I decided to throw on a few pieces of shadowline trim while I wait for more parts to come in. Holy shit what a difference already. Can't wait to get the rest on!

To note: you have to remove the sun screen cover on the inside of the rear doors to get to the trim screws for the web guide and column C cover. A bit more intensive of a project, I'll tackle it over the weekend.

Greyhound isn't worth considering most of the time. They only ship terminal to terminal which is just "OK" if you both (sender and receiver) live near a greyhound station, and want to deal with the drop-off and pickup hassle. There's a reason Greyhound shipping isn't popular. And it sucks if you have multiple pieces in your shipment (ie a complete interior).

Online freight booking requires accuracy which most don't have when getting a preliminary quote. You have to know the NMFC code of what you're shipping, all dimensions, and weight. If you have all of that and book online, you usually save around 10%, not 50%+. If anything you enter while booking a bill of lading is wrong though, the freight co will slap you with fees, so unless you're a pro you should talk to a broker for booking. A broker will also shop a number of different freight companies for the best rate and transit time.

Shipping a complete interior on a pallet usually runs $275-300. It costs more to do residence to residence. I ship out multiple pallets weekly and still use a broker (unishippers). uShip is also popular.

Thanks, I went ahead and cancel my order and need to redo it. I'll talk with a broker and see what our best rate will be. I used YRC but they never showed up Friday so it might have been a blessing in disguise

Interior arrived today. Everything looks good accept the backseat. The guy packed the door cards facing down and came close to piercing the leather. Not sure if I can even do anything to fix this.

To note: I plan to fully treat the leather with leatherique before installing.

Any recommendations to cure this?

Simple Leatherique and Heat fix. Its puffs everything back into place. You want to use a hairdryer or a heat gun (with a lot of care) while its soaked in Leatherique that provides some protection. I wouldn't freak out, its typical during shipping. Glad you got it though.

Awesome! That's what I was hoping to hear. I'll work on it tomorrow when I apply the rejuvenation oil and use the heat gun on low.
