Code CD87

Can not find info, anyone got any on this code?

N55 with JB4 and chargepipe, that is it. Have this code, plus had a horrible sputtering. It seems to have passed but want to be in front of the bus not behind it.

CD87: "PT-CAN communication fault" that's all I found for this code.. if I were you I would check the can wire hookup in the dme box on your car just remember to open trunk and disconnect battery before you check it out.

That is all i could think of, lose wire.

It has been installed for well over a year, going on 2 now.

I really hate getting to that DME, damn it.

So, the issue was violent sputter with an odd ticking sound. Would the CAN not communicating cause that? I have a vid and will try to get it up somewhere.

It takes like 5 minutes to get into the box - if that. The sputter could be anything. Mine does it too. N55's seem to hate downpipes. Our issues could be completely different though. Turn off the JB4 and see if it still persists. Then report back.

The ticking sound might be the valve tapping issue that is prominent in BMWs. Ask the dealer about valve tapping; they should know what you're referring to.
