First Service

I have a September 2006 build 330d, at 19000 miles its just been in for its first Oil Service. The service indicator was reset but only to 15000 miles, is this usual ?
Thanks

The car will tell you when to get serviced based on your driving style, so after a service it'll say 15,000 but you might still get another 19,000 if you drive the same way you normally do, nothing to worry about

In my old audi A4 tdi it was set to time/dstance similar to BMW...it used to say 16k when u picked it up but i had it to around 22k between services by the time i drove it with condtion based driving as BMW also suggest, this 320 says ill get to 21.5k so i mustnt grumble.

The dealers i've spoken to don't mind you driving around for 1k miles over the service indicator. Apparently its quite normal to do so.

The Technicians get 4AW's to do it - 15 mins.

They dont waste time lifting the car on a ramp, they open the bonett insert the vacume hose, suck the old oil out, change the filter and re-fill with new oil and then write up what they have done.

The major expense is the rip off oil.

ant.

My E91 is due an oil service, now at 21K miles.
I've just called my dealer and they wanted £184 for the first service (oil, filter, labour)

If I supply the oil, it will be £60 !

I've just bought some oil from the The Oilman for £35 ! (I already have a 75% full can already)

Stealers, don't you just love 'em

My dealer recommended 0w30 Fully Synthetic (BMW LL04)...this replaced Castrol SLX....

So I bought Castrol EDGE Turbo Diesel 0W-30 For Modern High Performance Diesel Engines

My cars booked in for next Tuesday. Apparently it only takes an hour, so I'm hopefull going to blag a test drive in an M3 whilst I'm waiting

Yes, I think 14k is quite low for a petrol.
When it was delivered it estimated 17k.
I do tend to drive my cars very hard once warm, so I can only assume that this has degraded the oil faster, therefore necessitating an earlier change.
I do quite a lot of miles (14k in 6 months) so it's not stop/start driving that's done it.

Not sure if you've been there for service before, but Elms are ok, not bad at all. They squeezed me in at zero notice today, which was good. When they're under pressure their car cleaning skills aren't up to much though, mine came out from it's service looking like a one-armed blind man had done it...

Mine's booked in with Elms at Cambridge Couldn't get much sense out of Bishops Stortford earlier when I called. Their Service dept were very unhelpful

Thanks. That is really useful info for me as I am in North Herts.

We should have a thread that says how much was paid for the various services and where it was done.

Had my car booked in today with Elms for it's first service.
I supplied my own oil (see above) and the cost was £78 (inc filter, labour, vat, etc).

All in all I'm happy with the service received from Elms. In and out in just over an hour (and they washed it for me )

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance for a test drive of a 335d or M3

Although I did spend some time over these two beauties....

M3 Coupe

M5 Saloon

Must admit I picked up a copy of the M3 Saloon postcard - I like it a lot Looks better than the Coupe IMHO

See my other post here

I already had a spare bottle of Castrol Edge 0w30 (BMW LL04) at home, so only had to buy another - the dealer told me that they needed between 6.5->7.5ltrs..... So I took two 4ltr bottles.

How much has you saved on BMW's price per litre of oil?
