So if cover art and BT audio are present in the firmware, how would it be possible for someone with an '09 iDrive to activate this feature. Can this be done at an autologic shop or is there a "new" ISTA/P firmware we need to look for?
Also Andre - since you have confirmed using the Apple dock connector to USB cable - can you comment if you still need a wire from you ipod to the Aux in jack, or is all audio now moving through the USB? |

Autologic or NCS Expert (if you find it somewhere).

I wonder if this will work on non 6FL option cars through the glovebox USB port? It seems by looking at the docs and install PDF from the 6FL Retro fit thread, that the USB in the armrest is shared with the glovebox port via a USB hub, so in theory this could be programmed without the 6FL option.
I would be willing to use my car's setup as the test rig, if anyone wants to assist with the steps of the german translation on the NCS Expert... |

Otherwise, you can play the iPod thru the 6FL using the Apple cable. It sound better than using the OEM cable thru the AUX as well... |

The glovebox USB is a input/output data port to the iDrive HDD without any player capabilities. It connects directly to the CIC and to no other module in the car. The USB hub is shared with the 6NF if equipped. |

I tried hooking up my Ipod and my 6fl wanted to browse it like a HD... I have late model '10. Guess I need to get a software update to enable this functionality?
Or... could you put album art in a directory and then have it displayed in Idrive that way? Someone w/ the working Ipod feature should try this with a USB HD to see if it works! |

Just purchased an '07 328i w/ Nav, Bluetooth, Premium Pkg. It has the AUX jack, but not USB (I'm assuming this means that I do NOT have 6FL). I'm currently using the BMW y-adapter cable, in combo with a cig-lighter plug-in adapter that I can plug the USB part of the y-cable in for charging. This current setup let's me charge my iPhone, and play audio via the AUX audio source, BUT, I do not have the ability to change songs easily, only via the device itself. The cig-lighter adpater is kinda tall too, so when playing my iPhone I have to keep the arm rest up -- annoying!
So, my question is this, what is the best route to go to get fully integrated audio from my iPhone to the nav system, allowing for control of the iPhone from the steering wheel buttons, and keeping the ability to charge the device? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'll continue reading through the large number of pages, but if anyone is/was in a similar situation, and can shed some light, I'd be greatly appreciative. Thanks! |

One other advantage of the new set-up with the USB-to-dock cable: no error message at start-up about it not being a genuine Apple accessory |

I have an 08' w/Nav but for some reason I can only search through my huge list of songs with no way to search via artists. My car originally didn't come with the IPOD adapter but as a part of the deal to buy the car the dealer agreed to install it. Unfortunately I bought it before testing and promptly installed a DCI and Vishnu piggyback. Now I think I have to take the car back to the dealer in order to get it fixed. Does anyone here know a way to fix it on my own? It would be great to not have to uninstall the mods!!

I'm pretty much in the same boat. No USB, No eject, but, iDrive and premium pkg I've read where some have done a 6FL retro with junkyard parts. That seems like the BEST option Last edited by dirtyballoonot; 05-29-2010 at 12:52 AM.. |

Applicable only to 3-Series Coupé / 3-Series Convertible (with option code 606 or 609) and 7-Series, 03/2010 and later for the European market. What could happen is that a software update after 03/10 for all CIC will have those features present but disabled. As stated before, my MY2009 has a Bluetooth Audio selection in its list of variables, and when enabled it actually shows up in the screen but it does nothing when selected. That tells me that at least my CIC software (I don't know which version it is but it looks like it was the bugfix of 03/09) has the "handles" for Bluetooth Audio, although the actual functional feature showed up a year later. |

Thanks for your comments concerning the CIC and the 2011 release. Let's hope that BMW releases this update for earlier 3ers. |
