Gas Mileage
I have been driving my Steptronic 330i for about 3 weeks now and am pretty disappointed in the gas mileage. (It was one of the reasons I sold my M3, but I won't get into that...) EPA rating is 21/29, my car is pretty new, still less than 800 miles on it with very little highway driving as yet, but I am getting nowhere near 21. Closer to 14 or 15...
Is there a promise of better times coming after break in? What are you guys getting as far as MPG? |

I got a 330 manual. according to computer, I am getting 25.8 all around town. with 25.8, the driving is very tame (not much sprited driving) it is like driving miss daisy. when gas drop, i will have more fun but not right now.

I was getting 20+ mpg right out of the gate. The day after I picked up the car I did a bunch of freeway driving to enjoy the new ride and was getting around 24+ mpg.
I didn't notice anything different after the break-in period. |

the only way your getting that crappy gas mileage is by driving way too aggressively. not a good idea to do so with an engine that hasnt been broken in yet. if everyone else averages about 21mpg on the freeway then you should be to.

15-16 city if you are an aggressive driver (like me) is about right.
I think what most people here call "city driving" is nothing like Los Angeles.

23 on city streets and about 25 on freeway....at 14-16 mpg, you are probably more aggressive driver than others and there is nothing wrong with that. It's a preference...if you enjoy it, go for it!!!

Pay attention to your mpg gage (the one with the needle)
If you are pinning it all the time, your mileage will suck. Go easy on the throttle. |

Yeah, I am disappointed as well, getting around 14mpg, mosty city, with steptronic on sport - that's almost as bad as 350hp supercharged C32 AMG
