Hey guys, im currently looking to buy a new intake system for my e90 328. I have the performance exhaust on right now and it sounds pretty nice. Now I've done some research on the forums about different intakes that are available for the n52. Yes, I am aware that there is no significant differences in the different intake systems. I do know that Closed systems are a lot better than the open intakes. So far I narrowed the systems down to 3 different intakes.

These three seem to be the most popular closed box intake systems that everyone gets aside from Gruppe M and Gruppe M reps which are rare to find. I'm mainly looking for a louder sounding intake than my stock.

From you guys experience, which one should I get? I'm leaning more towards the Euro intake but its also 100$ with the K&N filter than the AFE intakes. Can you guys post any videos that you guys may have of these intakes. If not put in a good or bad word for any of these intakes so I can make a better desicion. Thanks

Those Prices are pretty close to a BMW PI, tough choice. If I was going to get an intake I think I would get the PI, even if it is mostly for the look

Those intakes are pretty far from the Performance Intake lol, those go for about 800$ thats almost double the Euro intake. Also to my understanding, The Euro Intake is very similar to the PI just minus the carbon fiber. But yes I guess if you wanted the CF you could spend the extra 400$ on the PI

If you're looking at the AFE, for $50 more, you can have the fully enclosed intake (aFe stage 2 SI), rather than the one you posted. I had that same style AFE intake on my e46 and the heat shield didn't do much, i was pulling in a lot of hot air from the engine. i picked up the fully enclosed intake for $410 from autoanything.com since they have 15% off going on right now... it should arrive at my doorstep in an hour or two

Thanks a lot man, I'm pretty interested in the sound, along with aiding my PE without losing power and sucking in hot air. Please update me with pictures and videos of your new intake when it arrives

Just looking at the style of the intake, it looks like a MUCH better intake than the one I had on my e46 or the one you were looking at. Plus its resembles the OEM/euro box.

I'll have it installed by tonight and I'll take a few videos and lots of pics

I've seen em floating around for 650

That AFE looks cool too though, but I like the clean OEM look of the PI, but that's just me. I would like the PI, a carbon fiber engine cover, and maybe a nice looking strut bar. I think that would make the engine bay look very nice

I like the Eurobox due to the OEM factor. It doesn't change the sound very much, if at all. It improves the throttle response and the car pulls a little harder in at higher RPM's but nothing revolutionary. IMO the best way to go is charcoal delete with K & N unless you want to keep it clean or worry about the warranty, then the PI is the way to go. I really can't speak for the AM options but a closed set up will not change the sound by a lot.

The PI uses flat panel filter and still retains the charcoal filter. The Eurobox uses a cylinder type filter and deletes the charcoal filter.

just got it installed! man its rough working on a hot engine in florida weather but it went pretty smoothly. i have a short clip that i'm uploading now, its not the greatest vid its just something quick i shot because i was tired/hot. aside from the humidity (and the snake that snuck into the garage), the install was a breeze and the intake fits very well. anyways, on to the important stuff:

Install - EASY 2/10

Sound - It sounds SO much better than stock... the intake really starts roaring past 3.5k rpm and you can actually feel it screaming... the sound is intoxicating!

Performance - High end power was unaffected... however, there is a very noticeable difference in the low end pull.

Other than that, the intake seems to be built very well. No MAF problems, rough idle, or engine sputtering at all. The low end performance boost is pretty noticeable... no gain in the higher RPM region, but that was expected. The sound is incredible compared to the stock intake.

Here's a pic, I'll edit my post with the very short video clip. All in all, its definitely worth the money. Anyways, i'm out... Need to be up for Cars & Coffee in 5 hours!

I have the euro intake and it seems to make a difference in high end breathing. One issue I have found though is that you can't get the filter replaced under your maintenance plan because the US dealers don't stock the filter.

Whatever you get... Don't get the afe stage 2 non enclosed intake. It sounds great but will require a custom 1/2 inch spacer to make it work correctly. I've got it but would never recommend it.

Not a troll post I promise, if the euro intake and the PI cost the same which one would be the one to pick in terms of "power"?

The euro has a cone filter, but the performance intake has a larger inlet?

So I'm curious

If the PI didnt have Carbon fiber...euro intake wins
plus euro intake you can change filter by just removing the top...where PI you'll need to take everything out

So would the enclosed one be a better choice? Do you still need the spacer???

Bought the Eurobox and had to return it as soon as I got it. I needed the money to pay for valve cover gasket that was cracked and I wasn't able to fix it so I had to take it in to the indy. Soon as I get money I might get it again.
What y'all recommend, get an exhaust first or the intake?
