No Spare tire
One of those times I wish I had run-flats on my e92... and also one of my fears was breaking down away from home.
Went down to the states side to do some shopping yesterday night, while on the way back to Canada on the interstate one of my rear wheel tires blew out. Fortunately I was only 10 Km's away from the border, unfortunately the tire is completely shredded I was riding on rims. Limped back doing 30 on a 70 interstate cringing till I got across and called a tow truck... That was one expensive shopping trip Really hoping I didn't damage the rims |

I sometimes worry about the same thing- however, it is still not enough to make me switch back to run farts...
Besides, I have roadside assistance for the next two half years, and I've already used it once for a silly mishap. |

I could think of more than 10 incidents where run flats saved the day. I love em for that but gosh they're harsh.

I'm here thinking, when the hell will they go out so I can buy some PSS's lol
I like them but already had one run flat replaced since it had a bump on the sidewall, had to get another run flat……. Knock on wood, only one time in my 10 years driving did I ever need a spare tire on any of my cars and that includes long trips.

I read comments about the run flat being harsh, it all depend where you are coming from. My S2000 was my daily driver from May-Aug/2013, when I bought the 328 one of the first thing I notice was the improvement in ride quality. I picked the car in NC and drove 8+ hrs to NJ, all I could think was how my smoother the ride was compared to my S2000.

Run flats only let you go further before the tire is toast.
Get tires at America's Tire and buy the certs. Even if you shred the tire they replace for free. You just need to buy a new certificate.

As we speak my run flats are coming off and Pilot Sports are going on. I need to figure what to do with regard to a flat. I have fix a flat and a compressor but now people say to not do it with tpms. So I need to google. But the run flats are impossible here with the broken pavement. I really hate them.

Like posted above... run flats will only get you so far. And at that point there is no fixing the tire, even if it only needs a plug.
I carry a emergency spare, jack, breaker bar, small air compressor and a plug kit. Everything except the spare fits under the floor or in one of the side bins. |

I just have a Continental emergency spare tire & jack kit (including a small wheel chock and breaker bar) that I put in my trunk along with a torque wrench & 17mm socket.
The spare tire really doesn't take much room and the jack, torque wrench, wheel chock & breaker bar all fit in the hidden compartment along w/a tire gauge and a couple jack pad adapters. I have all the other tire repair stuff you could need -- compressor, tire plug kit and sealant -- which I also put in the trunk for awhile, but all you REALLY need is the spare tire/jack kit and torque wrench/socket. So, I took all of the other stuff out of the trunk.

I was under the impression that you weren't suppose to have your car towed on anything but a flat bed. regardless, that sucks but there's no way id go back to paying 400+ for tires.

Would be great idea but one tire is different from the other 3 since I needed a replacement. Im close to putting 30k miles on them and they have about 5k miles left in them, doubt anyone would take them like that.

Getting my summer wheels on Saturday...wondering if it's worth the trouble to try to take 2 Michelin winters and one Good Year winter back to try and sell, or tell the tire shop to take em all and bring back 4 18" stocker rims with me |

This happened in Downtown LA. I used my portable compressor twice and it got me to America's Tire in Glendale where they had 1 replacement in stock! I don't know how a run flat would have done. That being said I have 4 spare 17" run flats for road trips.

I'm replacing my RFT with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 this weekend. I am thinking to buy a "doughnut" spare tire. Pity, it will consume a bit of trunk space, but we can't have everything.
