How do you install OEM Carbon Fiber Spoiler?
I just recieved my carbon spoiler from Morristown BMW via ebay . There aren't any instructions and there wasn't any double sided tape with it. Just wondering how everyone is installing these. Thanx.

you can use double sided tape....if the fitment is a bit off (which happens even with OEM spoilers)....such as one side seems to pop off....then you have to betalink it....

Use the tape. Beta link is unnecessary and irreversible. Here's how to install your spoiler. Please do it at temps ABOVE 65 F
1) Clean the area to which the spoiler is to be placed with rubbing alcohol. 2) Trial position the spoiler in place and do some measurements to make sure the placement is symmetrical AND WHERE YO WANT IT! 3) Take masking tape and tape the spoiler onto the trunk lid in numerous places. You can also put additional tape only on the trunk lid to act as a positioning guide. Now carefully cut the tape at the edge of the spoiler so that you can remove it from the trunk lid. 4) You will need to buy some 3M double side Molding tape at your local auto parts store. Apply that to the underside of your spoiler. 5) Cut the 3M tape in the mid line and partially remove the protective film from each side. Using your cut masking tape strips as a guide, position the spoiler in the center of the trunk and align it with the tape . Do one side at a time unless your spoiler is very rigid. It helps to have a second pair of hands. Align all the tape positioners and pull out the protective film from the underside of the spoiler. Once you are sure of the correct positioning, apply pressure to the spoiler Voila! You're done. The trick is to have a second pair of hands and to precisely line up the tape strips. BTW, Jlevi suggests that you can use a 50% Windex mist applied to the trunk before putting it in place. This is supposed to allow you to reposition the spoiler if you happen to be a little off on you positioning. I have never had to do that with my technique. |

I used betalink. On some parts of the spoiler, only an edge will be in contact with the car. With that in mind, I was hesitant to use tape...
