If I didn't want to spend $2500-$3k on brembo's could I not just get the BMW performance calipers/rotors?

pretty sure that the bmw performance brakes are smaller than the stock 335i brakes, so braking performance is not improved... you're buying just for looks.

as for the brembos, i thought the only difference between the i vs. xi were the brake lines (not 100% sure). so technically, buy an i bbk set, get the ecs stainless steel brake lines for xi, and you should be good to go. but again, dont quote me on this.

Hi guys,

Bumping this old thread. Is there a Brembo BBK for an XI? If yes, part# for front and rear? I have a 2011 335xi and doing an upgrade. I can see on the previous post that it can be done, but when I look at websites to buy, it's saying it won't fit. So now I'm checking on the forums to verify. These will be fitted with 18" Volk TE37. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I've posted my impressions before but I have the front and rear Brembo GT setup and couldn't be happier. It was crazy expensive but the ability to control the car at high speeds is simply amazing, and the confidence the setup imparts is like no other brake setup I've ever used. Also consider that the XI is roughly 200 lbs heavier and it needs help.

I run 19" Apex EC-7 square setup as the 18" are dangerously close to the caliper.

I would think it would be difficult to find the GT setup used but if you have the money and are committed to the platform, it would be hard to do much better.

There is even a GT-R billet monoblock caliper for the XI but that's almost $10k (edit- it looks like the price came down, I found them for $7,464.95) just for the front and unless you're seriously tracking the car, it would make little sense. Pretty cool piece though…

There's always Stoptech for less money but it ain't Brembo.

Stoptech is a reputable company and for the price you cant beat that. IMHO unless your going to be tracking the car you don't need a BBK.

If you're going to drive a high horsepower car, you need suspension and brakes. The difference between the stock setup and an upgraded suspension and brakes is night and day.

I've setup all my cars as track cars that never see the track. The fact is many will never drive their cars aggressively enough to take advantage of a BBK. I do and it's awesome and it's just plain safer.

So were do you drive aggressive on the streets? lol
Look stock brakes are good for daily and spirited driving. If you are driving "aggressive" then you belong on the track.

I have them on my XI now too, strangely enough, I feel like my initial brake bite isn't as aggressive as stock. Maybe it is in my head but I could even maybe say it feels weaker. Maybe I'm not using the proper brake fluid but just my .02

Ha. Properly bedding in the brake pads is critical. FWIW, I use SRF fluid, not that fluid is your problem. If functioning properly as mine do, you should be able to pop your passenger's eyeballs out.

Actually, the brake feel on my car is progressive with static pedal pressure which I find ideal. Absolute confidence and zero drama braking from speed. As I mentioned, one of the best brake setups I've ever used.

Are you using GT calipers or some sort of adapted Brembo setup and what kind of brake pads are you using ?
