Is this car lowered? 335i xdrive w 19" wheels
Looking to buy this car from local dealer. Msport pkg, performance edition. It has 19" rims from 335is coupe. Has window tint, performance intake etc.
Dealer says other than tint and wheel swap, car is not modded. I know the xdrives sit higher but stance looks fairly aggressive. Worried that it may have been lowered. Is it just the 19" rims?Pic is attached. Any opinions? |

Well one definitive and easy way to check is measure the distance from the enter of the wheel cap roundel to the fender lip directly above it. Compare to another car known to be stock or perhaps some with same car can chime in with their own measurements.
Sure looks lowered to me esp given my experience with my car. I also looked once on realoem.com and there was no difference in PN#'s for 335xi and M sport suspensions. It has been a while though. Visually I usually key off the gap line at the side skirt, extend that line through the wheel centers. On this car it is clearly (in front) well below the whole roundel cap, and you get a good rake front/rear. This is an LCI car though so I am not as familiar with them. |

pretty stock looking height! No mod was done on the car. Take a look at my friend's car with the same wheels.

Wouldn't necessarily buy into "dealer said not modded..." Tints, wheels, intake...can never be sure, but I'd imagine there was more at some point. Looks clean tho |

My 09 XI i could fit my entire fist in the wheel gap. This seems much lower than that, by half or more. It is not as low as springs would make it though so its tough.
Like they all said, take a look. Without lifting the car you can see the rear springs and struts pretty easily if you get down on the sides by the muffler and look in. If they are colored, definitely modded. I believe Eibach springs are black though... but you might be able to see a product code.

What would be cool here is if BMW actually did do something to the XI M sport that lowered it, and it is just not widely known. Like I said at one point I did check realoem.com and compare Msport to same year regular XI and there was no difference in suspensions. Maybe later they changed it or something, who knows. But whatever the car being discussed here is much lower than standard XI's thru say 2010 or 11. |
