Buddy, I know where I stand in the respect and kindness department. I treated Jim very fairly during our dealings. It is only in this thread I became upset because so many people are brainwashed by his posts. Then i got pissed at him. I dont care if people on here dont think i am nice or not. this is a car forum!! not my workplace.

People deserve the truth. Jim, being 40 or so years old, isn't man enough to tell it like it is.

I'm not going to take sides here.

I was just wondering though if you thought the check was a fake...why didn't you just call SunTrust and verify funds on the check? Not only that but a SunTrust rep could tell you what to look for as far as the check goes to tell if it was real or not.

Hope this comes out well in the end and chalk it up to lessons learned here.
Good Luck to both of you.

jimd1709,

Actually, DHL does have a signature required shipping method. I had just received one. I wasn't home but my wife was and they wouldn't even give the package to her..... I had to go pick it up and sign for it. Good fun.

That's what I thought. My waybill says that a signature is required, why would they just drop it? DHL sucks!

Not only that, but my bank called HIM to try and help out. This was after he claimed it was fake, and I just wanted the funds back so that I can pay someone else for the wheels and tires. He told them they had the wrong number.

Damn.

The cliffhanger.

Gonna have to wait till next season to see if the check comes in. Might have to TiVo it.

All joking aside, I certainly hope it comes in, man.

If not, my bank will cancel the check and refund the money after the 12th. That is 10 business days.

not taking any sides here, but i won't do any transactions with cashiers checks. i've actually seen some fake ones that a couple friends have received. my suggestion is to obtain a money order from the usps next time, check the security features on it, and make sure it clears at the bank. anyway, hope all gets resolved.

This thread should be required reading for undergrad business students on how NOT to conduct a business transaction.

***Update***

Well I got my "fake" check back. Went to my "fake" Bank, and the funds will be back in my "fake" account by Tomorrow. That SOB sent it back without even putting my last name on the envelope, like he wanted it to get lost. It was coming into a mailroom that serves 250 employees, and he just writes "Jim" on it!!

I agree, this was not a proper way to do this deal. I had trust in someone. Trust should never enter into a business deal, if there is no history there.

You live and learn. I'll have my wheels shortly, then my new Coupe!

Mods, let's pull the plug on this one! Close the thread please, let's move on to happier subjects.

Did you use your "fake" license at the bank? Sucks that it took the path it did but at least you have your money back. Glad to hear this ends on a positive note.
