Dinan flash and the Track
Any pointers from the guys who frequent the track at all? I'll be going next wed to Englishtown raceway and seeing if any of you had any advice to give? I'll be running with 1/4 tank of 93 oct and my car is totally stock other than the Dinan Flash.. My goal is to pull a 12.8 or so.. I've been working on the launch and seem to have a decent one.
With the tun it seems to shift early out of first about 5k rpms and then take second to about 6200 bc after that you can feel the boost taper off a bit.. Let's hope this manages a 12.8 or so

keep one eye on the track and one on the tach, or both on the track and none on the tach, but never just both on the tach. (<--- say that a few times fast)
and do a nice burnout before you run, get them puppies good and sticky!

Maybe, I'm getting my GT2 Passport soon. So I plan on playing around with that for a few runs. Forget the dyno, more work for more pain

Practice your launches. If you can cut a half ass good 60 ft. time like 1.8 you are in the high 12,s. Shift at around 62-6500 rpm,s and let the car do the work since you have a step tran.I just might be there also (E-town).

I have hundreds of runs on dragstrips, and can tell you the most important thing for a fast time is to get the proper launch. With an automatic trans it is the easiest. I would try launching at different RPM's to see what gets you the quickest 60 ft time, then stick with that as your constant. I would assume the car shifts at redline in auto mode?? If so, just leave it in drive and work on the start of the 1/4.....

Stay out of the water if you're running street tires...you'll lose traction. Only get in the water if you're running a dedicated pair of slicks. You need to do your burnout on dry asphalt. The best mod you can make is on improving your launch and 60 ft time.

You shouldn't burn them out, but you should "shake" them off with a good spin. Even when your avoiding the water, your tires still get wet. In Etown they have it sectioned off so you can go around the water but, your tires still get a little slick. That seems to work for me. Then again, four weeks ago when I was at Etown, I couldn't hook up for for nothing. PM me the day before your going, maybe I'll join you.

Since you have a 6MT i would suggest practicing leaving the line at around 3k with a nice fast clutch slip.Practice,practice.

the gtech is pretty accurate. It was off by only .1 sec compared to the officail track time. This is without any calibration to the gtech. Just plugged it in and push start.
