Warning Triangle - which one for '09 E90?
I want to get the Warning Triangle that is referred to in the manual for my 2009 E90. There is an indentation slot in the trunk lid where it is supposed to be stored. However, I'm not sure which warning triangle will fit there. Even if I manage to get a BMW warning triangle that does fit, there are no clips or securing strap to actually hold it into place.
I've seen one website that supposedly sells the Euro issue BMW warning triangle, but it comes in a blue case and it stores under the left side of the rear shelf. I don't want that version - I want the one that fits into the recess in the trunk lid.... Anybody know the part number, and how to mount it to the trunk lid on a 2009 E90? Thanks! (P.S. Yes, I read dozens of threads here about the warning triangles - nothing talked about one that would fit in the dedicated storage spot for it in the lid of the trunk....) |

That may be new for 2009 - Can you take a picture of the trunk with the storage spot?

I also had a triangle when I picked up my 2008 335i via Euro Delivery - I took everything out except for the triangle when I dropped it off for shipment. Someone took it unfortunately. Now I have an empty triangle holder - still kick myself for not packing it.

If you had wanted to keep it, it would have had to be removed prior to drop-off. What else did you take out? The only other things you should take if you had wanted to keep them were the FA kit and front number plate.

Other photos show my actual trunk (2009 E90 335i Sedan). Clearly, I need not just the triangle, but some sort of attachment to hold it there..... |

The case from my 2009 only has 6 770 487 molded into the side. The case is 17 inches long, 1.75 inches wide, 1.25 inches thick. The actual triangle won't be DOT certified because it is reflective on only one side.
The triangle storage on the pre-2009 was on the left side, up under the fender. I don't have a photo of it, though. These are photos I just took:

Yes, the WORDS are clear - their placement in that sentence is not. What does a safety vest have to do with a warning triangle, first aid kit, etc., that come with a BMW on ED?

Meanwhile, I managed to find on the LeatherZ site that they sell what looks like the same exact triangle kit as you show in your 2009 E90 trunk pics, but for the 1 Series. I measured and had LeatherZ check dimensions, and it seems that the parts are common. So... I orderd the 1 Series triangle from LeatherZ for my 2009 E90 LCI. When I install it and check fit in a few weeks I will report back. Thanks! |

It seems like BMW changed their trunk liner design. In the past the 335's do not have a place to stow the warning triangle, at least not in my E90 335xi that I had before.

Thanks - I was able to obtain this triangle kit from LeatherZ.com. They have this listed for the 1-series, but it also fits my 2009 E90. Note that the kit from LeatherZ comes with two screws - however, on the 2009 E90 you don't need those - you need to simply reuse the two black screws that are already in place on the trunk lid in the required spot (see my original photos above prior to triangle bracket installation).
Note that I only got the triangle because I am anal-retentitve, I wanted the car stocked with everything it "should" have. So, the spot for the warning triangle needed to be filled. I should say, though, now that I have it, the spot in the trunk lid actually looked nicer without the triangle. Consider that with the triangle, every time you open the trunklid you have a blue piece of plastic staring you in the face, instead of the just the nice grey carpet.... |

I guess Sam added the Warnweste to his list of things he removed because it, similar to the FA kit and triangle, is a required safety item (although not in Germany, which is why BMW does not supply one).

I purchased the safety vest because I drove my car in Austria - it's required by law (Austria only). JSpira had asked what items I removed from my car when I dropped it off in Munich and since he seems like a detail-oriented fellow, I tried to be comprehensive. Sorry for the confusion.
