MPG on 2011 328xi
Hey guys, not sure if this is the right section but here goes.
I have a 2011 328xi AT. Bought it in February of this year and it currently has 11,000km's on the odometer. The fuel economy I've been getting has been less than spectacular. I fill the car up with 91 Octane exclusively. I drive about a 80hwy/20city and have been getting 11L/100km, which translates to about 21.4 MPG, according to the on board computer. I don't have a heavy foot, and usually set the cruise while on the highway at 120km/h. Are other owners getting similar numbers? Or is there something off with my car? |

i Have the same car and i get about 11L/100km to about 11.7L/100km but i do about 70% city and 30% highway. I find my car is good, that does seem a little high considering i can be heavy on the foot. I was driving 125km/h for about 130km's for a short trip and for 7.9L/100km so i dont think what you are getting is all that good.

i cruise 40miles round trip to work and back and average 21.9mpg. On a trip to Mass, i averaged 26mpg at 77mph. These I6s suffer less than stellar mpg on city driving.
Sidenote, non-runflats made a difference of .2mpg

I take it pretty easy in my '11 328xi "most" of the time, and drive 80/20, hwy/cty but get 27-29 out of every tank!!! I've done a bunch of unscientific testing and have found that the mpg curve drops of rapidly above just 65 mph. You just have to choose, speed or mpg...

I get 400 miles out of a 93 octane tank (with 10-20 miles left on the computer) on my 328 xdrive wagon with 6MT with.
I have driven 350 miles per tank on the two 328 xdrive sedans with AT that I have had as loaners. All cars used 93 octane gas with 10% ethanol and had less than 5k miles on the odometer. Same roads and driving conditions. If I'm not mistaken the wagon is 100 pds heavier than the sedan. Dunno about MT vs AT.

I averaged 21.9 mpg with an average speed of 34.4 mph the past month. I'd guess at a 70/30 city/highway split.
I have a Xi wagon, so I think I'm doing ok... |

i have an 07 328xi auto wagon and average 24mpg with 85 highway 15 city with the AC on. I was actually getting 23mpg but ended up changing all the fluids to redline, tranny/diffs and engine oil and noticed it made a slight difference. Im using shell 93.

I have an 07 328xi 4dr sedan. When I got the car last year I was pushing the car fast and quick and then I was averaging about 17miles/19miles per city (30-45)/hwy(70-85). Then realised burning too much fuel and so started driving properly at right speed/rpm and now my average is about 20 miles(30 -45)/25 miles (65 - 75) per city/hwy ...

Driving habits help: I tend to cruise in neutral often and avoid stopping/slowing where possible.

My driving habits consist of using M mode instead of D for the 6AT, meth, and other good gas mileage inhibiting practices. This is why I got the car

I average about 26MPG which im happy. I do 85% highway and 15% city. Highway speed avg is about 75MPH I forgot to mention I do DS mode about half of my driving... It was broken for about 2 weeks and I missed it. I am glad my DS mode is back since I fixed it!

wow, I feel better now.
My '06 325xi is doing ok. I average 21 with city driving and on a recent 6 hour trip on the interstate, I averaged 29mpg and my avg speed was 80+ MPH with short bursts up to 100+ (had marked police car in front and marked police car behind). another recent 2 hour trip driving at 65mph, i averaged 31 mpgs. |

Just picked up an 09 328i X-drive AT. I only have three tanks worth of gas in the car, but so far, I appear to be doing about 28 MPG combined per tank. That's at about 85% highway.
I was curious just how much I could squeeze out of the engine. So on a lonely stretch of highway, I set the cruise to 59 MPH and let it go a little over 50 miles. The computer was reading 34.5 MPG just before exiting. |
