Flip up i drive from 1 series in a e92 coupe

Hey,

Has anyone ever put a 1 series i-drive screen in a e92 coupe?. The one with the flip up screen, this looks like it could be modifed to fit in the speaker cover on the dashboard on the e92 and save a lot of cost and effort in the double scoop install?. Could use the same CIC Head units in e92 and just add the flip up screen - as it is essentially just a screen.

Am i right in thinking that?

Garage List
I'd be more than surprised if this were even remotely possible without a completely custom dash install and a lot of cutting.

I'll give you guys a hint.
CIC / CCC cannot be fitted instead of radio unless you do custom fitting. It is not going to be 100% though.
And when you fit the screen on the front air vents, it will block the passage of air vents as well. And I do not see where you will fit two fitting screws at the bottom of the screen.

Looks like this is definatley possible then!. Would save a massive ball ache changing the dash out. And im sure a future new owner would like it, anyway you could always make sure you go no bigger then the speaker/vent cover and just replace it, to get back to OEM if you sold suppose.

As for the air vents, is that the only one for the windscreen? , they are heated anyway arent they? so would still de-ice in winter ?

Pretty sure the windscreens aren't heated.
And I don't think that big one does the windscreen, but I wouldn't know for sure as I have the double humped dash

Ah the double hump has no central air vents? just a speaker cover. Which would mean they are just an extra bit of bling in the non idrive. Looking at pics of the dashs there are more vents running the length of the windscreen which are obviously the Windscreen vents. So they are not heated then? suprising
