I'm so sorry.... Although, I don't think that I would have let them take the car in the first place. I would have made a claim of flooding and then taken it to get inspected myself at a shop / dealership.... Hindsight is 20/20 though.
Best of luck working through this. As others have said, your best bet is to make a claim. You'll probably need to have documentation that you didn't drop it off that way. Even if you can't , I would guess they'd cover it as theft / vandalism.

Holy shit. Can't wait to hear the outcome. Is it common to have insurance in the states pick up cars for you? I have never heard of that up here in Canada.

Thanks for replies.
Yeah maybe i could've had it inspected myself, but first instinct was, call insurance, need to make sure there isn't any water damage in the engine. Insurance contacted a towing company to pick up the car. And then sent it to Copart for inspection where deemed OK. See pic, it used to be so pretty inside... |

So your car possibly had water damage, insurance picked the car up and took it somewhere you weren't. They lost the key, damaged the interior, and was going to leave your car at a unknown location. First, I never heard of Encompass Insurance, second, I don't think an insurance company is going to conduct business this way. I would get a lawyer ASAP, and get rid of you're insurance company. Please keep us posted, I never heard of anything like this. GOOD LUCK!

This is hard to look at. I doubt your insurance company actually picked the car up or did any work themselves. Who took possession of your car and did the work? Someone is responsible for this.

the car clearly went to copart and was auctioned. copart does not do inspection, they sell cars. i think there is back story on all this. i dont think insurance company was involved in any of this. theres something your not telling us.

I had to read the post twice to make sure that the pictures you uploaded weren't before you sent it to the insurance company...

i'm not sure why there is any doubt or holes in my story, but one may chose to believe whatever one chooses.
the insurance agency sent the car to Copart. I'm aware they are an auction company, however that's where it was sent to be inspected. It's all documented, so not really worried about what may be missing in this story. Merely sharing this because i wanted some advice. It's not insurance company's fault that my car is ruined per se, but they are the ones responsible because they chose Copart, and the ones i will deal with. this blows. |

What paperwork did you sign when they picked up your car. Who documented the condition of the car during pick-up? I mean, every time you rent a car you are going to document the condition. Your documentation will determine the outcome because you will need to substantiate your claim. GL |

just call your insurance in the am and tell them what your telling us. they should be liable for all this since they work with copart and chose them, i work with copart but never heard of them doing inspections. maybe due to sandy copart let them use their lot for storage purposes.
