Most people there are well off.

There's different between culture and religion
It's not always "hot and dirty" there is winter and summer, there is snow in some middle eastern countries! Ex Saudi Arabia gets snow up north in winter.
Muslims fast one month in each year from sunrise to sunset
5 prayer each day
there are actually a lot of similarties between Islam and Christianity! and believe me, it's nothing like what you see on TV and news.

This is very true. Though it is very heavily religion based, I ran into no issues with anything so long as you respect the culture and environment which is a must really when traveling to any foreign country. The women have to wear the hijabs when going into any mosque or temple, oh and security will not allow women to take pictures in front or in the mosque's without hijabs.
Also, you have to take your shoes off when going to the wash room.
The water is crystal clear, and you literally feel like you could jump in anywhere.
The evening go really chilly, as low as 0c in some cases. I found the locals to be very inviting and actually made some friends when skiing at ski dubai and bowing in the bowling alley there. The malls stay open to midnight as it is a local hangout, and they do have the bar industry really outside of the hotel bars. Food is delicious and overall, an excellent place to visit in terms of cleanliness. The only really "dirty" areas were in the Gold Souk (think night market) which I was hounded because I look like I speak english. My wife and her family being asian weren't bothered lol..

We always joke around here that we'd all convert to Muslim to marry 1 or 2 more wives.

Hum, I couldn't really say if anyone had more than one wife but with all of them wearing hijabs and the lack of any affection the men show women in public it would be impossible to say.

Oh.. and I believe dessert is cold any time of the day.

But yes the desert is too.

Yes, the natural citizens are taken good care of by the government and anyone who is not an Emirate is not allowed citizenship regardless if they are born there or not. Otherwise, many Indian, pakastani, etc.. work there and send funds home. Mostly in the services industry as tourism is they primary economy outside of oil, and perhaps a bit of fishing?
