Creaking / Rattling Windows

Hi,

I'm having a great time with my now 2 week old car. I had the dealer fit Window tinting and for the past 2 weeks it has sounded like all the doors were rattling. As it has been found if you lower the windows down just a little the rattling stops. You would swear the doors were rattling.

Has anyone seen this before - the dealer has indicated it is due to the window tint being fitted.

I have tried what the dealer indicated was a fix which was to clean the windows - to no avail; anyone got a fix ? before I have to go back to the dealer.

Cheers.

I noticed it says you have an E90 but i've got the exact same problem on my E92 drivers side window, the glass it pretty wobbly and loose when you place your hand on it and gently move the glass left to right. Never bothered mentioning it to the dealer though and i've had it for close to 3 years now

Hi,

Yeah mine is an E90 320d. The worst part is all you hear is creaking all the time. In the cabin the car sounds like its a 20 year old banger!

Nothing irritates my wife - BUT the creaking in the car does and she doesn't even now want to drive the car !

Cheers

Yeah i am not too sure why yours would be creaking, my windows are frameless and thats why the glass is "loose" if that makes sense. Since you have an e90 (which has frames around the glass), it should not wobble like mine does but just mention it to the dealer asap if it's bothering you or your wife to the point of not wanting to drive a brand new car...

Good luck

Take it back to the dealer and get them to test drive and fix it?

We have the window rattle on the front passenger window of the 320 wagon. A bit annoying, but not really that bad.
The creaking is sometimes related to amour-all on the seats where the seatbelt sockets rub.

get some curtain lube and put that on the bits the window rubs against & your problem will be solved. any good mechanic should have a can of it sitting around, will take a whole 30seconds to do.
