Just had a b-day myself, with a 3 1/2 month old. B-days have lost some of their luster.

We just went to a restaurant that I like and had a little champagne.

No idea on the free meals, I most chain restaurants are not very good. There may be a Texas Roadhouse near you, they are good. Other than that all the restaurants I frequent are in Northern California.

Welcome to the "Bdays no longer fun" club.
My birthday was last week and it's just not as much fun anymore. Last year we went outta town for my 30th (was extra nice because my mom watched our 4 month old girl).
Now it just seems like too much of a hassle to go out and do anything.
And I don't really need toys anymore so that takes the fun out of it. Well, I did get an Evo 4G which I'm stoked about. That was the one redeeming thing.
Now it's more like getting stuff that I need though. Like the pair of shoes I keep putting off or the new chair for my desk.
If your wife had a natural delivery you can't even have bday sex yet.

The good news is when your daughter is older you'll have so much fun with her bday you won't care about yours much.

I think when you guys recover from the newborn phase you'll feel like going out again.
Mine was double sucky because it was on a Monday... worst day for bday!! My wife did make me a super steak with gorgonzola and carmelized onions and twice baked potatoes. Now it's more about the little things and thoughtful gestures.
We had a month old girl on last Mother's day and my wife was so happy that I actually ventured outdoors and got her flowers and made her breakfast.

I don't think birthdays have to suck, priorities just change a bit. I'll remember not to make the next baby come out close to my birthday though... haha

1 month off active duty is a good bday present.

My birthday is next Friday. I'll be 36, so I've got some experience on you. We're just having a low-key night at home with some friends and then I'm going skydiving the next weekend for the second time. That was my choice. We don't have any children, but birthdays just aren't that big of a deal to me anymore.

yeah, happy bday since I forgot to say that.

I guess all wives are different. I don't try to make mine feel bad but if I say I'm bummed about a birthday or something she usually tries to make up for it next time.
I don't say "you suck at birthdays" or anything like that... haha
It helps that I'm usually the spoiled one though. Now I gotta compete with a kid though... and she already likes "shooz"...
