M3 rear guide rods upgraded
Hey guys, so I bought used M3 rear guide rods to upgrade my rear end and one of the rods came in without the rubber grommet that covers the monoball bushing. Do they sell a replacement for this or how can I fix this before installing?
EDIT: Not to confuse anyone, the bushing is in there only the rubber part that covers the bushing is missing. Here are the pics to show what I'm talking about these are a pic of the ones I got: Last edited by SM335i; 05-16-2016 at 04:53 PM.. |

They fit on 5-series rear upper control arms. Look for something like that. Even this might fit. |

I see, I had someone check the bushing and it is very well lubricated and does not have extra movement. I think I'll find a generic rubber grommet and make it work.

Here are a few typical layouts, Im pretty sure the M3 uses the teflon engulfed design and if you get micropebbles in there as the bushing moves it will scar the teflon and start loosening up. Another cheap cheap fix is to take some gasket maker and make a new rubber boot, just lay the thing in circles around and around and let it sit. it will help somewhat. |

One thing you don't reuse are suspension components, especially in northern climates that see snow. Get the TRW's or some better replacements from Turner with delrin bushings.

FYI: Those aren't the rear guide rods. They're too long and they have the ABS brackets on them. Those are upper control arms.

Should return them and get TRW ones like everyone said..
I wouldn't buy used suspension parts. |
