There is no choice of different TPMS sensors... you either buy the original sensors from the dealer, individual, or other shop (we sell them too), or you stare at the dash light.

Uh, doesn't the '06 use the FTM system which compares wheel rotational speeds rather than using in wheel sensors?

Have you tried inflating your tires to spec and resetting the system?

Your car, being a 2007, as stated, uses the Flat Tire Monitor (FTM) system. As such, it does not have in-wheel TPMS sensors. Rather, it works wholly off of wheel rotational speeds. (Much better IMO.) This system was used in the E46 M3 and in E9x's (M and non-M) up to and including 2007. In 2008, BMW switched to the [regulated?] industry standard of the TPMS system, which uses both rotational speeds and in-wheel sensors.

BMVeh's 2006 definitely has the FTM system. But since the U.S. changeover was made during the 2007 model year (not 2008), the OP could very well have TPMS sensors - as does my '07 E91.

2007 models that are equipped with metal valve stems have TPMS sensors. Those with rubber valve stems in 2007 have the FTM system. Both are possibilities for 2007 model year 3 series cars.

Ah, very good. I didn't know the cutoff was mid-2007, rather than between 2007 and 2008. My wife's '07 E91 does not have 'em but my '08 E90 M3 does

Good point! For those who may not know, surely the metal valve stems is a good indicator of the presence of TPMS's.
