Choosing the right spark plug!

Hi guys, which spark plug do you use in your n54 and why? The ngk or Bosch?

I'm leaning towards the ngk so I can gap them a little closer that the Bosch but many have no issue with the Bosch plugs as it stands if there fbo.

Both seem similarly priced overseas, the ngk are much dearer in Australia. Supercheap want $15.75 per plug Bosch or $40 for the ngk.

I'm cobb stage 2 aggressive fbo and will have to order plugs from overseas seeing as I can find anything in Australia. On another note, can anyone reccomend a vendor who doesn't wasn't a fortune.

Thanks.

I'm getting NGK next.
Supercheap in QLD quoted $24.95 and Bursons (Supercheap's distributor) quoted $29.95!
You can import them for ~$110 delivered from eBay.

Just bought a set of Bosch for $95 to my door from Germany. I'll give the ngk's a try next time around.

NGK's because the gap is adjustable.

What is the benefit of adjusting the gap? I thought it would just be a case of making it correct for our engine and then leaving it there. Is there some modding benefit to changing the gap?

If you're not modifying anything - yes, the set gap on Bosch plugs will do the job perfectly.

If you're running higher boost, I believe you need a lower gap to produce a more reliable/consistent spark.

Edit: the NGK plugs are also one step colder, which is advised for higher horsepower modifications.

^this is true. but remember the shorter the gap the more often you have to change the plugs.

I just bought mine from n54tuning.. ngk's I loaded them into a FMIC puchase - i think my shipping as 150 all up. No idea how much shipping is on its own.

I'm sure you could entice me to purchase something else form n54tuning and I'll share the postage costs

I've read about quite a few guys having misfire issues with NGK's, albeit I've never used them myself!

I have covered 55,000km in my 335 using the Bosch ZGR6STE2 spark plugs and haven't any issues with misfires or anything else. I have never used the NGK plugs so I cannot comment on them.

Same Bosch ZGR6STE2, have not had one misfire.

It is well noted ngk one step colder are the go for higher boosted cars. I must be around 400hp so above that might start needing ngk colder plugs.

BMS cost around 100 delivered for bosch

Probably they need to gap them more evenly or something.

I had engine malfunctions when I first got the car and tried WOT - no JB4, no mods.

I bought coils, NGK's and JB4 and installed all together with plugs gapped as per recommended and the car has never thrown a code at WOT since.

It does idle a little bit lumpy at cold, but I believe I could gap them closer again than they are now - which some have also mentioned need a smaller gap to solve.

Edit: When I did remove the original plugs, they were the Bosch ones with 4 ground probes. They were a little bit soiled.
