Most expensive lower mesh grill DIY...
So last night I was reading up on the lower mesh grill DIY and decided to do it.
This afternoon, I shot over to Lowes and got the can, brush, and bucket...driving home with my girl and I see a statie (undercover) has a guy pulled over and is getting back in his car. I slowed down with traffic slowing down and passed him (windows up). My windows are tinted 13% (previously checked by another statie). I'm in the left lane laughing about how he might pull me over cause looked like he had a stick up his ass, look in the rear view and he's on my tail. I merge into the right lane and watch as he kicks back (probably running my plate). Next thing I know he's behind me with the blue lights on so I pull over and knew it was for the tints. I roll the windows down and wait for him only to see him barely as he slowly and cautiously approaches my car (lol, what are you afraid of)? He asks for my l&r and I hand him my license only to be accused of "having another license in my wallet" -- show him the wallet (no fakes or anything). Asks me if I knew how dark my tints were and I said no idea. He comes back with his reader and shows me the 13% and doesn't even let me ask him a question as he walks away with me saying "officer". He then comes back with a $250 fine. Crazy thing is I got my car inspected today...and I have no front plate (which he never caught). I was told by a couple friends to rip the tint off, take some shots of the car, and take it to court with my and ask for the ticket to be dismissed. What a shitty day...any suggestions? Sorry kinda had to vent. $16 (supplies) + $250 (ticket) = one expensive lower mesh DIY

life is like a box of chocolates
Please! Give me a break?!
You knowingly tint your windows darker than the law allows, and are pissed when you get a ticket?! Save your "outrage" for something better! illegal is illegal - regardless of the morality of the law. Break the rules - pay the price and shut up. Really man! |

Most cops are douches. Some are good. I've learned this the hard way.

Most likely an existing member that didn't want to expose himself. Just a thought.

To the OP, I'd like to see you approach a vehicle, not knowing who is inside, while wearing a uniform that some people simply hate because of what you stand for and have no regard for your life or the fact that you have a family like anyone else...
It's true that not everyone we deal with is a violent criminal, but one person out of a hundred is....go make a hundred traffic stops and see how long it takes you to get lucky and find that one...I know from experience.... Watch this and you will see why we are cautious when we approach a vehicle... Its alot harder to shoot someone when they arent standing right in front of you.. you never know if it's grandma you just pulled over or someone who doesnt wanna go back to prison and will do anything to avoid it.... case in point..this was a simple traffic stop for an illegal u turn, the driver was a well known drug suspect, which they did not know at the time of the pursuit, you see how this ends...from a simple traffic stop a man loses his life and in the process tried to kill at least two officers..all because he didnt wanna go back to jail... until you have walked in our shoes and done our job from our aspect, dont criticize an officer because of the way he approaches you...doesn't mean he is scared at all...it means he is making sure he goes home to his family when the end of the shift comes...Tactical advantages play a major part in our jobs and make the difference in going home to our families at the end of the day/night or going to the morgue, because we made a stupid mistake and got complacent with everything we do.. Not to mention that you alread said that you knew your tint was illegal, but you told the officer that you didn't know what percent it was??? Whats the matter, were you scared of a ticket?? Being honest with an officer is the best way to avoid a ticket...I hear "I dont know" ninety nine times over, and hear the truth once....the ones that tell the truth usually get out of there with a warning.... Just a little food for thought...

TO the OP.
Sorry about your situation. Get a lawyer if you feel you need to state your position legally. Tints are bad in my hood. Cops will pull over peeps for having ANY tint in the front half of the car! Besides, you drive a nice car. Don't you want people to see you? That's what I sell myself whenever I want to tint |

3pnt4maro, Thanks for posting that. Very well said. I have family and friends in law enforcement, and I see this everyday. I am always surprised at the lack of respect the average person has for the job these people do.
To the original poster, you were breaking the law and you knew it. Now you want to complain when the law is enforced? Grow up. Take responsibility for your own actions. It is part of being an adult. As far as the idea of LEO's looking to give you a hard time, and or giving tickets to generate revenue. Are you serious? Do have any idea how little ticket revenue offsets the daily costs involved of your local law enforcement agency. Not to mention the risk involved in traffic stops. More LEO's are injured or killed in routine traffic stops then in any other part of their jobs. They are risking their lives every time they make a stop, it is not just something they do to be a asshole. Bottom line, if you don't break the law, you have nothing to worry about. If you treat the LEO with respect they will reciprocate. |
