Steering locked 2006 330i

Help! Replaced battery two months ago. Forgot to register. Now key fob won’t go in, it spits it out, but was able to drive car with key in my pocket. Yellow key on dashboard. Today the steering is locked, before it would unlock no prob with foot on brake. It doesn’t help with key not being able to stay in ignition. What can I do? Funds are low, but I love this car. Any ideas without tow truck to BMW?

If you have ISTA / ToolSet32, try resetting the steering lock counter, it might work. If not, your steering column is faulty and may need replacing.
