Engine temp. in 328i and Steptronic Shift Pattern

1) After having driven my car "spiritied" including using manual mode a lot as well as staying in "Sport" for long passes, my engine steams heat trough the hood and if i touch the car on the front/hood/sides is hot enough to make burnmarks...

Anybody else experiancing this? Are there any warning light telling if/when car gets overheated? (No temp. gauge in my car)
Should or rather is the oilcooler installed on my 328i w. ZSP? (My car is from June)

2) The shiftpattern in my 328 Steptronic sucks, even in sport. To many downshifts and they are always to late..whant them before curves while breaking and letting go of gas to stay in correct RPM range to hit it out of the curves..not when hitting while cornering...-Any cure apart from manual mode? I whish that the AUDI S-tronic or similar makes it way into the E9X..

My E90 328i 2007 does not have a temp. gauge. -Is this something that could be retrofitted?

The E92 328i comes with the oil temperature gauge (standard). I think that the E90 has the 'fuel economy' gauge in the same position. Probably it can be retrofitted but IMO it is not worth the time/money.

BTW my 328 so far has not exceeded 250 Fahrenheit (approx. 121 Celsius).

AFAIK oil coolers are only used in the twin turbo engines. Was it very hot outside? Anyway you may want to check both the oil and the engine coolant level.

well, a couple weeks ago, our temperature in Vancouver got up to 37 degrees Celsius (100 degrees fahrenheit), i turned the A/C on and in rush hour traffic, my car never went over 120 degrees celsius in my e92 328i, i am sure some of you guys in places like Texas is going to have hotter temperatures, but at 100F it gives you a pretty good idea of the cooling capabilities of the 328i motor
