Alignment shop in PDX.....
Anyone know a reputable place for alignment? (Other than the dealership)
I have: E90 on PSS10s Active steering TIA p.s. I brought my car into the dealership to 'try' and get it aligned about a year ago. Not only was the alignment still a little off, but I had to drive the car home without power steering and three other lights on in the dash board (ABS, powersteering, brake).

I did alignment there (never oil changes lol). They had the factory specs, and did a good job actually. Much cheaper than the dealership. ~80$

Did you recently change your tires? I wouldn't do it if your tires will need changing anytime soon

Try Dynasport. Tell them Dan w/ the e92 sent you. They specialize in Mini & BMW. I had some issues with tramlining after my upgrades and eventually they were were able to reduced them.

While I wasn't happy to pay for a the 2nd alignment, they do a lot of road testing the car not just run it on the machine and off you go, so overall I'm happy with the results.

I did one in June last yr when I got the car and put new rubber on - $75.
In April they charged me $90 - and it had been aligned before at a cheapo shop right after my susp job as the car was really scary, so it wasn't too much off - and no improvement on tramlining. Then for the 2nd one 2 wks after, they charged me again $72 although it was toe only. That's the one that ticked me off. Yup, I can recommend Matrix too, I did there a (failed) sway bar upgrade on my VW like ~6 yrs ago. (Failed not because of Matrix, but believe it or not because H&R has apparently no idea about bars... and I had their own springs on the car, so they couldn't do anything else then reimburse me)

Did you take it into Matrix? How did it turn out?
I originally had my car aligned at the dealer. Results were great for about two weeks and then things started to deteriorate really quickly. Made no changes and didn't hit anything (they did leave the bottom cover lose and flapping around, so it just makes me wonder if they missed something else). The steering feels very loose and I am pulling all over the place, I don't even feel safe changing lanes any more. Anyway, that is really off topic, but I wanted to get some opinions and also hear some more feedback on some good shops for alignment in the Portland area. Thanks! |

No, I haven't. I called Dynasport the other day, and they seemed pretty knowledgeable with BMWs. They quoted me $115 for the alignment (I have AS). So I think when I have the time, I'm just going to have them realign my car. They said they need my car for the majority of the day though....
How much did they charge for alignment at Matrix? It's actually right next to where my friend lives off South Waterfront, or is that just the billboard? lol.... Quote:

I'm bumping an old thread, I know! I Just had my first interaction with Hartman Motors and I can say they did great work!
$100 alignment and they actually know what they're doing! I'll be coming back here for service and advice in the future.

Has anyone used the firestone place?
It was a fan favorite for the other car community I use. Lifetime alignments also!!! I think there is one right off burnside and sw park. Any opinions on this place? http://www.firestonecompleteautocare...SXtBoC6Yvw_wcB Dont use Les Schwab IMO, place screwed up 3 different cars I have taken there! No more trust from me! I don't care how close and convenient they are, too much of a hassle and cost too much to find out its not right later! |

I've used Firestone before (albeit the one on NE Sandy and 50th). I bought the lifetime alignment deal and definitely got my money out of it. Admittedly, it was for my wife's Subaru so not exactly apples to apples - but they did a good job.

I've never gotten an alignment done at Firestone, but I recently got tires at the Beaverton, OR location. The staff was very nice, but they seemed to be short of experienced staff members.
For those in the west Portland suburbs I recommend Futrell Autowerks. I took my e90 there and I take my Audi B7 there. They do all my alignments ($100) and occasionally other mechanical work when I'm too lazy to do it myself.
