well my search has led me to 3 options.
1. Take my mom's Jeep Commander for a while. Yeah the V8 sucks gas faster than brian gobbling sausage at bob evans but it's got the space I need and it'd be basically free so I can keep the 1er. 2. Buy a shitter car for $8k or less but it's not gonna be anything remotely close to nice and probably have over 100k miles. This is my least favorite option because then I have a car I don't like driving, will be in it all the time and have to fucking pay for it too. 3. Ditch the 1er, go to the darkside and get a nice low mileage certified B7 A4 Avant (wagon) and make it my primary car. Again, not my favorite choice cuz as much as I lust for others, I love the 1er and want to keep it especially seeing what I've put into it thus far. The good thing is this would probably drop my total payments by about $100 a month on top of not ADDING more payments like option 2, so it ends up being about $200-300 cheaper when you add in insurance on 2 cars and maintaining them both. Only shitty part is I have to pay tax when I just paid tax on the 1er last year... this state is a fucking joke about this shit. Also what sucks is I'd have to find someone to take my 1er lease off me and in the mean time I'm starting this job in like 2 weeks so I'd still be screwed till it went and I got something new. |

I know its hard but option 3 is the most logical....functional car you like enough with improved cash flow. You lose some baller status in the eyes of some but in the eyes of your family you did the right thing....that's all that should matter.

trust me its not worrying me what others think. I will still probably mod it a bit but my concern for this is the time constraint. it could easily take me 3-4 months to get out of the lease in which time I've already dumped an ass load of miles on the car from traveling.

Keep the 1 not worth paying penalties, unless you can find someone to take over your lease

Ya that would be the plan if I did, I can't just turn it in right now. If I sold it for the payoff I'd still have to add tax on it too so it's instantly $3500 or so overpriced.

so if going with #3, saving 2-300/month, how long would it take you to make up fees/taxes? Will you have the new car that long or longer? If the answer is yes, #3 makes the most financial sense in terms of cash flow. Past sins are past sins, that is money booked, how do you improve on that and achieve your goal? The only answer is #3. But what the fuck to I know...

1. Tax on the new car =$2000 or so so add that into the monthy payment or the total amount I can spend on the car. Either I go over say $400 to get the car I want or I go down in price so that with tax it makes up for the tax I would end up paying (i.e. getting an $23k car with $2k tax instead of a $25k car). 2. My primary need for the bigger car is very soon, so even if I was to get a new car, I would have to take on both payments so that I can have the wagon now when I need it the most and wait till the other one transfers over. If I waited till it transfers, I could easily be waiting 2-3 months (or longer) and totally miss out using the bigger car when I need it the most (Aug-early Oct). If that is the case, I would have logged an ASS load of miles on my 1er which will not only bring down the value and the miles allowed in the lease but it leaves me stuck with using a small car to haul around a lot of stuff. #3 would be the best course of action long term (a year or more) if I can get out of my lease fast enough and keep the wagon for a few years. |

Opt #1 still lets me keep my car and since I'm borrowing it, there is no financial commitment other than to fill it with a lot of gas when I need to use it.

I'd go with #1, the money you save by not paying taxes can be put towards gas plus you get to keep the 1er.
Although the A4 avant is indeed sweet.

well opt #3 looks a lot more imminent now, at least in the the long run. Just found out the house we were supposed to receive as a gift (as of last summer) then thought we needed to buy at a heavily discounted rate (to reimburse for construction costs) is now being offered to me at a much much smaller discount - like $500k as opposed to $550k of what her dad would list it for. Looks like Sethy-poo is going on a big time budget now and even with that I probably still won't be able to afford the fucking house. Either way, bye bye 1er
