I have a very annoying humming coming from the front passenger wheel. Took it to the dealer and they said your tires are worn.....they were so I replaced them, and now still the noise is there. It sounds just like the noise your worn tires give you when the horizontal tires low tread indicator is humming. Any ideas? Thanks

It is hard to tell from the info you provided. More details needed. how many miles on your car? How is the tire worn out (is it an even wear or not)? Is only the front sets of tire worn are all four tires? Do you remember running over anything? When the last time you had alignment done?

+1, what he said. I had an issue like this and it was because the belt in the tire broke inside the tire. I just brought a new one.

My best guess would be your wheel being damaged with a flat spot.

They can be corrected. This one was repaired. It can be much less obvious than this.

interesting, did not know you could repair that? How much to repair if you dont mind to give us some idea.

I have seen that before. That happened to a buddy of mine. Ended up just tapping it straight again with a hammer. Worked great.

Here it is complete. There were three flat spots repaired for 74$CAD + 14$ tire mounting.

typically when your tires were replaced the tech should have been looking for any bends in the wheel...you could have it checked for bends though ive been replacing alot of wheel bearings lately...

I am a service advisor for bmw and i have seen this before. I would have the tech use the chassis ear and check for a wheel bearing. I have replaced a few front and rear wheel bearings so far. Hope this helps.

I have the same noise with 15 k on my car could it b wheel berings already . I'm just worrying I have after market rims would they give me crap about it .

Could you elaborate? Is it a test with instrument like a doctor does?

I am in the same boat. I repaired one badly hit wheel (pic above), now a second one, inspected closely the 2 others (no hit).... and I have a loud road noise. My RFT tires were very quiet when new, I can't believe that they could become so noisy.

I had the car lowered with Eibach coils (similar to sport pack level - mine had not this package) and only the realignment was done at the dealer. In your opinion, would it be ground to deny the repair on warranty of the bearing, if it is the case?

chassis ear isnt needed...bad pot holes can damage wheel bearings...any decent tech should be able to diagnose a bad wheel bearing if the tires have been replaced and there isnt a bent wheel...

as for aftermarket wheels-if they are bent they can cause noise-if they arent bent and the tires arent chopped/cupped then there shouldnt be a grinding or humming noise..
