I'm running a staggered set of Bridgestone RE11s and they aren't bad. But the front end needs more grip so i'm thinking about trying to fit 265m up front. But chassis tuning isn't my area of expertise. I have a friend (Paul Gerrard) who is a VERY talented race car driver and brilliant chassis/suspension guy. Just had dinner with him tonight and he agreed to help out with the chassis tuning next week. It's perfectly okay now but I'm sure it can be SO much better with some thoughtful tweaks (spring rate changes, custom shock damping, etc,.)

Power-wise, there are absolutely no complaints. There is nothing I enjoy more than power oversteer in the top of 3rd gear. Hopefully his suggested changes don't button down the car too much

Doesn't Dinan have 265's on the front of their suspension kit 335i?

It can be done...

I don't know but i wouldn't be surprised. Steve Dinan is another great chassis/suspension guy. A good friend of Paul's as well.

^yea Dinan is the only one to offer it. They don't disclose their offset and no other vendor out there has been able to offer a solution

One guy on this forum had the kit back in the day. Let's find him and bribe him.

I need to talk to that guy. I'm tires of dumping money into suspension.

Looks fun and the engine runs great. Be careful or you may end up in a horse ass in one of those curves

Shiv, I think it is great you are doing this stuff but for goodness sake, what if a car came around one of those corners when the driver was getting sideways... Also, don't know if this was addressed, but what other modifications (i.e. suspension) does this car have. I think it is utterly pointless to throw a stupid big turbo on a car that doesn't have a worthy suspension. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Car needs more track time, less street time. It would be nice to see some logs after constantly redlining and taking on the harsher conditions of a road course.

265 sounds awfully aggressive, I'd be curious to hear what is involved in squeezing that in.

Either way, the more I see this project unfold, the more I see my aspirations to keep my 335 an easy bolt-on car vanish before my eyes. I will really be keeping a keen eye on the reliability and drivability of these things. I have done the guinea pig thing in the past with very disappointing results, but if these things really turn out to be as good as they seem right now, I don't see being able to resist the temptation for long at all. Great work thus far, looking forward to even more.

Despite on how it may look in the video, my entry speeds were pretty low. Which is why you rarely hear any tire noise. It's only when i can see a clear exit do i pick up throttle and have a little fun. Even my straight line speed was kept reasonable. My Mexico standards, of course.

The car will see some track time. Thinking about T-hill next month. Just a lot to do until then (brake ducts, water lines into the turbo, suspension/tire tweaking).

I wouldn't say that the current suspension is "unworthy", it's not not track worthy at this time. But then again, a stock e90 m3 isn't any better.

Shiv

Let's see some highway pulls from this speed and maybe a video of you rolling in 2nd gear "idle" and then floor the gas to see how fast this single will spool up.

Don't let a motorcycle forum see that video. They will flame the crap out of you for crossing double yellow.

I'm an avid motorcyclist myself. And I'm very careful about that kind of stuff. In the case of the first part of the video, the road is very bumpy/gravel-y on the outside of those corners. So I avoided it. And visibility ahead was perfect.

That was my daily commute to the shop for 3 years btw. Got to love Mexico

Reminds me of riding with Steve Dinan in an E92 M3 4.6L stroker on the road back to his house. HOLY CRAP! That dude is CRAZY.

Man, I've only had my 335 since Sept, and I'm already looking forward to turning into a single turbo track car!

LMFAO You sure know your way around Mexico haha.

I have a bike, I go past double yellow all the time..therefore, I approve!

Keep up the great work Shiv!! I keep on thinking, I'm going to check the forum and you will be reporting something wrong... Just keep proving me wrong!!

Also when are you going to take this beast to the 1/4 mile?! I really want to see the official times it's putting down.

Keep up the good work!!

Yea those roads are deserted during the afternoon. I've been back there and not seen a car for hours. You seemed to be doing perfectly fine in my opinion. I suppose a lot of people don't have the luxury of having roads like this in their backyard (Mexico) so this video may seem a little out of the norm. As long as visibility is ok in front there is nothing wrong with what you were doing. Plus as you said you have been driving these roads for years and you probably know them like the back of your hand by now.

Yes Dinan does but they are $50,000 a piece..... seriously, they are $6,000 for the rims - just because they figured out the right offsets.

If you get a 265 on the front with camber plates on a 9" - 19" rim and post the offsets - you would make me a very happy man. No flippin way I want to spend $6k on a set of rims alone. I'll save the money for the single turbo !!
