I am pretty stoked to see how it works on my wife's 335d. We recently purchased the Platinum Extended Vehicle Protection Plan and Extended Maintenance to 6yrs/100,000mi.

I figure if it throws a code that I will clear it with my ScanGauge, so I did not purchase the CAN tool with the JBD.

The 335d is my wife's, though I drive it whenever I can. I drive a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon most of the week.

Regardless, we are thrilled with the 335d. It is a 2011 with 14k miles on it and feels nearly new. Looking forward to many years of great driving. BTW, the first time she took it out for a drive, she was giggling while enjoying the torque and acceleration.

I drive an Odyssey van, but try to grab the 335 when ever possible.

The 335d stock, let alone with the JBD, does require one to exercise a bit of restraint. I started out with the JBD at about 60% (I think), and now I have it turned up to 90% (I think). Next step is to max it out to 100%. So far no codes. I don't overdo it and do wait until the car is at operating temp before I get frisky. I notice the most effect at extra-legal speeds, that is above 75-80 mph. It seems to be freer to accelerate. I really need to see what the impact on the track would be. Frankly I need to spend more time on the skid pad and also learn how to really handle the car at the limit. That is my concern more than all the toys I have added to this beast.

Sorry to go off topic but you might want to reconsider ditching that extended maintenance warranty since you can save yourself a lot of money by just going to an indy shop to get your periodical maintenance. Getting it would make sense if you live in an area where there aren't much BMW or European indy shops.

thats my impression too. I noticed that 60-100 is major difference in the pull by watching the speedo. The thing with this car is that the power is so linear you (I) dont feel like Im accelerating very fast until I time the 0-60, 60-100, 70-155, etc. Im excited to test at the 1/4 next week to see what it does. Ive got a good amount of 1/4 mile experience so Im looking to post some low 13s passes and would be pretty surprised if I dont at least get below 13.5

The speed limiter with the JBD turned up is way more intrusive. Before JBD if you hit or near the speed limiter its kind of soft and does feel like the car is really stopping you but more like its out of steam. With the JBD turned up that limiter comes in a hurry and doesnt disguise itself as anything but an electronic wall between you and more fun

I was planning on an extended warranty but as I researched more into the issues that have been reported it became clear that the issues were mostly covered under the CA 7/70 and federal 8/80 warranties so it wouldnt add much coverage. Plus most of the failures seemed to be either DDE related (federal 8/80 warranty) or related to excessive carbon buildup for which the best priced warranty available is my toolbox and my time.

You will love the JBD. Had mine on before my license plates came in. Bought the car new. Put it to 100% immediately and had no issues.

Well, my factory limiter is set to 130 mph since it is bone stock. But I haven't been any place where I could test to see if it works. The track I went to was a short technical one, so I could get to just over 100 mph before I had to prepare for a right-hander. Some days I wish I still lived in Germany. I also wonder if I could get Dinan to up the limit.

Hoooper, notice you are located at Hayward. My youngest son lives in Fremont. When I visit I see a boatload of BMWs, but no Ds. I sometimes wish I had my D out there instead of the rental Toyota Yaris, although it worked fine even for a day trip down to Carmel. But I wouldn't want to take it on Laguna Seca raceway.

The stock limiter should be 155 on all Ds I believe

There are quite a few bimmers in the area, but very few Ds. Laguna Seca would be soooo much fun in the D!

Hoooper and PR, I think you fellas may both be right in a sense, but for the USA I think the bone stock version is 130 mph and with the Sport Package and/or M Sport is 155 mph.

mines is non sport and with the RENNtech flash we got to 150 mph before the mile limit on the half mile race twice!!!

from a quick search it looks like that is correct. Ive always seen people posting that its 155 so there must be a bunch of us on here in sport models

Oh but I actually meant the extended "maintenance" warranty. The stuff that covers oil changes, urea refill, etc.

That's why you get your car coded so you can get the true speed value with a digital speedometer.

So yeah you probably hit 134-135mph.
