DS Mode shift points

If you floor the car, does the DS mode shift at a more optimum rpm compared to D mode? Or do they both just shift at red line?

I am hearing the optimum shift point is usually around 6200 rpm or so, is that what the DS mode shifts at?

It just shifts are redline, so best to do it yourself.

DS shifts much higher than D.

D basically granny shifts at a lower RPM for a smoother shift and better fuel economy.

DS holds it in gear until close to redline.

The fuel injection program and ignition timing probably gets more aggressive in DS also. (dont know this for sure but it would make sense).

It will just shift at redline in both. DS usually when you're not flooring it just holds one or two lower gears than normal to give you better response.

I've noticed the shifts happen quicker in DS mode vs D. In D it feels like the transmission is trying to smooth out the shifting.

To me it feels like it shifts like this:

gear 2 when it would ordinarily shift to 3;
gear 3 when it would ordinarily shift to 4;
gear 4 when it would ordinarily shift to 5;
etc.

It's like it's always in D+1 gear so it allows the revs to go much higher. That make sense?

The most effective and accurate way to answer your question is: shift yourself, because D and DS will both take you to 7000rpm at WOT.

If you have a tune, log wide open throttle (WOT) runs, look at your boost curve on your data log and find the point in RPM where your boost starts to drop off to a psi level that is lower than where it would be at the start of the next gear. Ideally, you want to shift so as to maximize the area under your power curve.

The simple answer: at WOT shift around 6200-6300rpm.

This all is assuming that you have an n54 thats tuned. I'm on the mobile and can't see what you drive.
