Hidden Menus and Service Intervals

I was wondering if there are any hidden menus and how can I change or reset the service intervals? I'm doing an oil change myself and I can't seem to find the option to manipulate or reset the interval for the next time I need to do one. This goes the same for the brakes and brake fluid.

Thanks.

from memory:
without idrive. Hold the trip odometer reset button in for about 5 seconds.
flip through the menu with the selector as usual. hit the button on the end when it shows oil. I think it then says "Reset". Hold in the button on the end of the stick till it resets. done

Remember to close your door when you do this. I tried it with my door open and it just won't do anything

I can't reset the brake pads from the status menu and also some other things like oil change. The only thing I can adjust from that is the registration from the status menu.

you cant reset them as they are determined by measuring the pad i believe using the sensor and driving style.

Took my 335 in for rear brakes as iDrive told me 800 miles left on them, so I took it in since I needed something else done as well.

Service Advisor said the techs looked at the pads and they looked OK, so they changed the interval on my iDrive to 24,000 miles for next service/replacement. By that point, I'll be at 48,000 miles (conveniently approaching that 50k mile threshold).

Sounds like a nice, easy ploy for BMW to use to avoid having to cover the cost under the "$0 Maintenance Plan for 4 Years"...

Are you mad because the computer's estimate was wrong and your brakes are fine, or are you mad because you think the SA lied to you when he/she said the pads aren't worn out yet?

I understand the frustration. I *think* (big caveat here, I may be wrong), the computer just estimates brake pad life, but will be overridden by the physical brake pad wear sensors when the pads are truly worn down.

Translation: if you pads have another 10000 miles on them, resetting the computer interval doesn't mean you won't get notified (and get new pads) when they do wear out. They just want the sensors to kick in before the computer interval doe.
