As for my planned DIY:
I may go the velcro way instead glue. However that all depends on how my original pedal comes out. If is messy, with broken tabs inside the carpet or the original Dead Pedal breaks, then I will just glue the new M Pedal down since the original Dead Pedal would be garbage after it breaks. I already have the stainless steel pedals on the car and really wanted the extra something in that foot well. I think this M Pedal will complete that individual look I am going for.

Even if you were to peel back the carpet you will still have to deal with the pegs locking the anchor O rings on themselves. Space is tight under there to try to unlock the O ring anchors from the fat pegs with your fingers or pliers. So the only solution is just pulling up the old trim and breaking either the pegs or the O ring anchors. Chances are the pegs will break before the O rings. After this part is done you have many ways of anchoring the new M trim's skinnier pegs. For some reason it also seem to me that the M trim pegs are not only skinnier but also taper in (like cones) as you get towards the tips so the only way to get them to stay in the holes is using some sort of adhesive inside the peg holes where the pegs would stay anchored. A better reverse-able option is to use electrical tape or a thin double sided tape and wrap the pegs so as to fatten them and then force the taped up pegs into the holes.
