Thanks again for sharing this with all of us.

Only 322hp? Why not 335hp like the Z4 35is? I'm disappointed.

Edit:

But I'm a fanboy so I'll probably buy it anyway

Does this mean it's not included? If so, I wonder if the standard is 6MT or the 8AT.

I think its between automatic and DCT, given the overboost function which cannot be handled by the manual, torque-wise (see the Power Kit specs - the manual has 20Nm less than the automatic for this reason).

or just the 6AT? Not sure if they already will introduce the 8AT in the current 3-series. The 6AT and DCT are already used and can handle the power... To be honest, when reading the reviews, I am not sure if the DCT would be an option compared to a 8AT. The 8AT seems to be really good, and be the successor in of the DCT for non M cars in the new models.

The N55 3-series is getting the 8AT in the Spring for sure. I doubt they'd use the 6AT in the 335is.

I am new to these turbo cars. What does the boost control do? Does this mean you can increase the boost and get a lot more hp then just 322hp?

+1 While i wouldn't go for either of the transmissions but based on feedback the latest auto sounds as close to DCT as it gets.

Sport auto is a 6 speed. Notice how the new 740 gets a 6 speed....

N55 cars get the 8 except the 1 which only auto is the DCT.

This seems more like a BMW Performance 335 with the addition of DCT. DCT should make the 335 a tick quicker than the manual & step cars. Braqvo for finally bringing DCT to stateside 335's BMW.

The DCT is really an improvement compared to the 6AT. quicker and more instant shifting, shorter gearing, especially the higher gears, and of course the 7th gear which is nice for cruising. For me the choice between these would be easy.
The 8AT would be a bit more difficult. Based on what I read I would prefer it above the DCT, but I would need to drive it to be sure.

For me it would be strange if BMW would connect 4 transmissions to the N54 (manual, 6AT, DCT and 8AT) Let's see....

So it sounds like the 335is is basically just a N54 with the performance package stuff installed except with the overboost feature. How does this work exactly?

I can't imagine what this car would cost. My Msport was almost loaded and it came out to just shy of 53K msrp. which is already close to a base M3 price.

So is the DCT mandatory on the 335is like the Z4 35is? Why the word "optional" in the scanned image?

It has to be north of $50k. Hell, current 335's are beyond 50k minus m-sport like mine lol.

No, this does not suck. This is what BMW always does, they are always upgrading, changing, etc, etc, you have to jump in at some point. Just like buying a computer.

You'll pick up your e92 on the 18th and you'll love every minute you spend behind the wheel, I'd lay money on it...

Only 18" wheels? Fail. Should be 19" to properly fill the wheel wells: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=264719
