Driving along approx 100miles from hone in my 320d (177) and it suddenly starts making a high pitched whining noise and completely lost power.

Any ideas chaps?

Sounds turbo related imo, arent the 320d fitted with mitishibishi turbo which are common to break?

Have you got access to reading any fault codes off the car, thats the first thing I would be doing

Think it's the earlier turbos that are supposed to be weak I think. Sounds like a split turbo hose to me.

AA towed me to dealer then got me home. No courtesy cars available. Not happy. Car has only done 59k miles.

My money would be on the turbocharger itself.

Had the car back on Friday - quicker than the dealer said (Trainers in Swansea) - it was the turbo itself. Car feels a bit quicker now.

Completely out of the blue - car was behaving completely normally beforehand.
