Thank the president for not executing a budget for the entire 6 years he has been in office.

Now onto the real question - how long do you expect to be out of work? I am a defense contractor who also runs a business transporting cars and may be able to pay you to clean my trailer etc for a few extra bucks, but I bet you are back to work on Monday and Congress just voted to give you back pay so how bad off are you?

Infidel, Thanks for your feedback. There was no opsec violation in my post. In fact, there was far less information there than is perfectly acceptable in any unclassified resume posted on the Internet. But I do appreciate your comment and I deleted my post just so we can end this string.

Ferrari, Thank you too. While my OP indicated I was worried about being out of work, I was actually using it to say working for the govt is no longer what I want to do (thanks to pay freezes since 2010; promotion freezes; furloughs - my second this year, etc) and working with cars (ie, my own business) is a dream that I'm looking for any help is starting. But, thank you.

Everyone else - Sorry for ranting on the forum about politics. This is not the place. Let's move on to BMW-specific topics.

Yep, I'm furloughed as well. No biggie - I took out all my wood interior trim yesterday and plasti-dipped it in matte black. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

Oh, and I agree with the shutdown, so not all of us government employees are big union liberals who get free trips to Vegas, even when it affects me directly.

So when you don't get back pay for your furlough days you won't be mad because it is cutting back on government spending?

It is actually ashamed that ALL the politicians are behaving like 5 year olds and putting the country at risk for their "ideological" views. Or at least those views of the party and not the constituents and in most cases not even their own views.

Enough already, pass a clean CR and compromise on the issues and get back to doing your job.

If I don't get back-paid I won't be mad - nor do I expect it. There are these things called principles and I am not going to sell out just because this shutdown negatively affects me.

And I agree that both democrats and republicans, and the President, are all acting like 5 year olds. What we have is a ruling class in DC who is not interested in the best interests of the American people. They are only concerned about their own self-interests. It is shameful and embarrassing.

Pics of plasti-dipped interior. I really like it and it feels almost completely smooth, just a little texture, like the arm rest/dash.
