And beaten to sh*t for our benefit!!!

Shiv, besides some of the VANOS stuff, and wastegates what do you think we should pay attention to as our cars gain more miles.

Because I think it's safe to say that your car at 68k miles has had more stress on it than a car with 100k miles driven by a "normal" person untuned.

@Senna. It is just a 335. It is the daily driver. Maybe if it were a 911 Turbo, I'd keep some of the miles off

50k 3 HPFP's but otherwise strong as ever. Putting about 25k/yr. Modded, of course.

It depends in what you mean (which parts of the car) and how the car is driven and maintained. BMW are high quality cars and normally last for very long even if punished hard. There is no reason to believe the 335i is any different from other BMW models regarding the basic quality and workmanship.

There are a couple of components though that is expected to fail anytime, and also on low mileage cars. It is the HPFP (High Pressure Fuel Pump), the Injectors, and ignition coils. The N54 turbo aggregates are very small, which makes them wear faster than large turbos. It is e.g. quite rare that you ever need to replace a turbo on a tuned Volvo T5 on a 300 hp level, while turbos have failed on 335’s already within the first years. With the exeption of 335i, this is rare these days and reminds of the failure rate for the early Saab turbos before the manufacturers began to use both oil and water cooling for the aggregates.

In regards to turbo failures, most of the "failures" I have noticed on the forums were not the actual turbos, but rather the wastegate mechanism, which I hope BMW resolved with the beefier Wastegate actuators and rods.

I think I have only seen 1 or 2 failures where the turbines failed, and I think they were due to running too high of boost.

Even the tuners Shiv and Terry have not destroyed a set of turbos and you know they beat the crap out their motors when compared to the majority of BMW owners. All things considered I think these cars are pretty decent when keeping performance in mind.

Finally we need to keep in mind, when we see postings of problematic cars on the forums we have to realize this is a minority of all BMW owners.

This is coming from 335i owner that has had my fair share of component failures, but I attribute this partly to the fact I have an earlier build N54, all the replacement parts I have in my car now are of newer updated part numbers.
