My Lemans Blue E91 Build Journal

After 3 years of searching and a lot of missed opportunities, I've finally found my Unicorn. It was purchased from the original owner who special ordered the car back in 2011, kept it in MINT condition, and came well documented. I will be updating this thread to log the progress of my build. Here are some specs:

- 2011 BMW E91 328it Wagon
- Lemans Blue
- 32k Miles
- Rear Wheel Drive
- 6MT
- M-Sport Package
- HK Sound
- Adaptive Xenons
- No I-Drive
- Aluminum Glacier Trim
- Black Interior
- Factory Roof Rail Delete
- Extended Warranty till 7/2017

My plans are to keep it OEM+ as this will be my daily driver. I've purchased some items and will be installing them shortly.

- BMW Performance Front and Rear Brake Kit
- BMW Euro Spec Convex Side View Mirrors
- BMW New Floor Mats
- BMW 19" 225M's off an X1 M-Sport
- Michelin Pilot Super Sports
- Macht Schnell 10F/12R Wheel Spacers
- IND Color Matched Reflectors
- BC Coilovers
- M3 Full Control Arm Kit (eventually)

Here are some pictures after it was detailed. I know, the pictures suck. Sorry.

One super clean, rare bmw.

I'm not sure what you mean by "full" m3 control arm kit, but really you only need to do the fronts. The rear arms dont really do much.

I was considering M3 front lower arms, M3 rear subframe bushings, and sturdier M3 rear upper arms while I'm in there.

Congrats! You found your Unicorn.... She's a beauty.

How do your new brakes and coilovers work compared with stock?

To be honest the brakes feel the same to me. The initial bite is the same as the factory calipers/pads but the braking force is much more linear.

The coilovers are great. They are at factory dampening settings from BC and the height is slightly lower than the OE M-Sport height. They ride firmer than the stock suspenion but isn't jarring. They are not KW V3's but a great set for a daily driver.

The M3 arms feel great, but are you sure I can't talk you into a 330i manifold and tune? Lol. Oh, and we need to get together soon and talk motorcycles and that shift boot.

Haven't driven the car in a couple months (since the last gtg) as it's been sitting in the garage. However Im hoping to take some pictures of the car next weekend with the new installed parts.

Still have that shift boot if you need it and always down to talk bikes.

Stan, I'm ready for some new pics! I want to see how those 225's look over your performance brakes. I finally posted some pics on my profile if you want a glimpse of your twin (less one pedal)

Took it to the dealer for it's annual service in early Dec, then washed and parked. I'll pull the car cover off this Sunday and take some pictures.

Hi Stanley,

It sounds like you barely drive the car! In a way, I am on the same boat, I only put less than 4K miles on the 09 wagon and got a 07 Subaru Forester XT Sport 5MT, unicorn in Subie world, as a cheaper daily!

I am in for pictures since I didn't get the chance to see the car in personal when we met last year!

Take care..

Jason

Took my wagon out for a drive today. It has been parked since December in the garage under a car cover. I forgot how fun it was to drive a 6MT again.

I installed a set of BMW Performance Pedals too.

I don't have a DSLR so please excuse the terrible pictures.

Beautiful! Those 225s look so much better than the 194s. How's the ride quality/steering feel moving up from 17"s to 19"s? What size are your Michelins, 225/35 & 255/30?

Here are the specs.

Front Wheel - 19 x 8 +30 MPSS 225/35/19 w/Macht Schnell 10mm Spacers
Rear Wheel - 19 x 9 +41 MPSS 255/30/19 w/Macht Schnell 12mm Spacers

I can hear the rears slightly scrape on large bumps. I am going to replace the rears with 10mm spacers and should do the trick.

The 225m's were off a 2014 X1 M-Sport. I figure if these versions are strong enough for the X1, then they're strong enough for the E91. They feel great but a bit on the harsher side due to the thinner sidewalls. Not much different than my E90M3 with OEM 359M and MPSS's though.

Thanks for the info! I ask because I just found a set of 225s for myself, also from an X1. I swear I'm not trying to copy you, you just have excellent taste

I plan on running square 235/35 Pirellis so it sounds like a 12mm spacer will be perfect for my rears since my tires will be narrower than yours.

I too am running Style 225s on my E91. Not nearly as nice as the OP though!
