I dont know... I am going to go test drive a used DCT M3 a Murrey later this week just so I can get a good feel of it. When I am at the drag strip or track then I really wish I had DCT but not so much during regular driving.

I have this accident forgiveness clause on my insurance policy so I am hoping that will prevent a rate increase.

Bummer if it's totaled, amazing that much damage from a minor incident.

Good chance to start over if you wanted to do anything differently. If it were me, I'd save/wait for the next turbo M3 and get something forced induction in the meantime, but it's your call.

Some how I don't see "accident forgiveness" applying to a 40K+ claim but it looks everything might be in your favor. You should ask them how much it would cost you to buy it back.

The good news is that if they do then I am going to do European Delivery to try and keep my payment down as well as to get an almost free trip out of it. If they dont total it, then I am going to throw that Dinan engine in it.

So, now that I might have a chance to do it all over again, I am thinking if there is anything I would change. Part of me is considering the DCT option but part of me loves the 6mt and feels like I would get tired of the DCT. What do you guys think?
EURO DELIVERY FTW!!!!!!! Hell yea! If you need a co-pilot, let me know. I wanna go back to Germany.

6mt...I wont own the DCT unless I cant get the stick. Then again, not living in the 'city' i dont deal with traffic alot and when I do, the 6mt can be annoying to own....

Ok guys, so this stuff with my car is still really on the fence with the insurance company. They still are crunching the numbers to see if they are going to total the car or fix it. Last week I was leaning towards hoping they total it but now this week, I am hoping they just fix it because that Dinan engine would be so SWEET! I have already got the ok from the ins company, and BMW, and Dinan. Dinan has an engine for me in stock and ready to be sent out. All they are waiting for is the green light. The engine produces 502 horsepower along with increased torque of 384 lb-ft at 5600 rpm

What would you guys ask for if it was up to you? A new car or a fixed car with a Dinan Stroker Engine?

Dinan without a doubt! When else will you get the opportunity to essentially swap your stock engine for a Dinan engine for free (assuming no increase in premiums). You don't even have to pay labor.

Seems like a no-brainer to me!

Dinan for sure. Don't get the DCT! I have it in the 1er. It's OK, but I wish I had a stick. It's really cool for about the first few weeks, I grew tired of quickly. It's really a novelty item IMO.

I am definitely hoping for the Dinan engine now! I have yet to find anybody on the forums who has one.

Dinan no question. All you get is a 'new' car. Its not like anything is wrong with yours but the engine. Get THE NEW big engine instead.

Dinan without hesitation. Like richpike said, when will an opportunity like this ever present itself again?
On a side note, I got rear ended yesterday and after I calmed down a bit, I hoped that my exhaust got bent so I could get the BMW Perf. exhaust.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Apparently!

BTW.... I am STILL waiting.... This ins finally got a value back on the car but now they are waiting to find out the salvage value.

This sucks! No RMCBMWCCA drive for me this weekend. I really hope that Dinan engine makes it all worth it.

Alfred; Yeah, it was totally fun getting rear ended while both of us were waiting to turn left at a green light

Sid, your thinking is all wrong. The Dinan engine WILL make this all worth it.

The biggest thing that excites me about that Dinan engine is the mid range torque bumb! That is exactly what this car needs! I am sure you would agree. 384 lb-ft @ 5600 rpm sounds nice!
