Has anyone regretted installing the Modified CDV?
Just had mine done...and I don't know if I like it.
I did my BMS Clutch Stop last week. Greatest mod ever! It makes such a difference... Today I had my CDV replaced with the Burger (BMS) Modified CDV. It shifts easier...but I feel like it's too easy! I miss the feel of the car putting you into gear when you shift...it now feels like a softer shift. Before the car would match the RPM's fast if you were slighly off...it doesn't really do that all that much now - instead it softly slides into the correct RPM range and I feel like the car is boggin down. From 2nd to 3rd if I punch it...I get no power for a second or so... I'm going to drive the car for a little tonight to see if I really like it or if it was just my mind playing tricks on me... Anyone else feel the same? |

It was crisp before. Maybe it's just me. I'm going to test it out later tonight to get a better feel for the car. |

CDV delete should be one of the first mods. Plus you can do it for free if your handy.
Perhaps you might need to bleed your clutch line if it was done wrong though? I'm not sure if any of our symptoms equate correctly for what the CDV Delete is supposed to accomplish. It is supposed to make engagement of the clutch quicker and bite harder on a quick shift. Previously, the car on a 1-2 shift would not grab as hard and would literally delay engagement causing the clutch to slip. The purpose was to reduce drivetrain shock when shifting hard and fast. |

Clutch was bleed...twice actually. The clutch pedal feels nice and firm...it's the actual shifting that feels weird. |

If you didn't bleed your clutch after its not going to feel right. I did mine and didn't bleed it after. Took it to the shop and we bleed it 3 times before all the air was out. After that it was so much better, its how the car should come.

The clutch pedal feels nice and firm (like a new car). Quote:
It just feels sloppy. I'll give it another shot later tonight or tomorrow as it's raining out. Quote:
Now it doesn't jerk as much...but it feels very loose and the car doesn't pickup the way it normally would. |

Mine shifts smooth as butter and insanely fast. I do mess up from time to time as the short throw clutch and the CDV together doesnt give u much wiggle room.

I do not see how you could get less and more sluggish feel with CDV swap if you didn't swap for a even tighter CDV?! Try deleting the CDV all together and see if it improves. Make sure it is well bled, I know it is tight but get it right.
You should feel in more control of the clutch and be able to do faster shifts. The ride can get a bit jerky for a while after the mod as you get used to the new feel and control. Before I deleted my CDV I had a lot of bad shifts 1-2 and 2-3 as the clutch did not engage right when I released the clutch. |

There is definitely something wrong if your car feels sluggish after you replaced the CDV. Maybe your clutch is really slipping ? Replacing the CDV will only eliminate the delay with which the clutch disc touches the flywheel after you lift the foot off the pedal. This can't be good in any circumstances unless you are used to dumping the clutch, in which case it protects your driveline from shocks.

Have someone else who has had more than one manual tell you how it feels. CDV delete should not do this.
Side note: you don't need to buy anything for this mod. Just pull the CDV out and pop out the restrictor with a small screwdriver. Reinstall and done.

It would only be the pedal correct? We bleed the clutch twice and he pedal feels firm as hell...so I assume the bleeding was done correctly.
Would the bleeding affect anything else besides the pedal? - say the actual shift? No right? |

Coming from the guy who said the stock tune felt faster than the JB3, I don't believe you.

I've been driving manual transmission exclusively since 1993, my previous car was a 2004 WRX STI, the stock clutch feel and engagement was horrid compared the the 6MT in the STI, and nearly impossible to shift quickly nor smoothy. The CDV + Clutch stop was able to bring it around the at least the same ballpark (but still not as good).
I honestly don't know how anyone with even moderate talent at rowing thru gears could feel the CDV made things worse, no offense subby, just being honest. |

You can't regret this because you can undo the change in 15 minutes. It's not like cutting your subframe...
