windscreen cleaner!!

hi,
i remember watching a long time ago, on a shopping channel, a product, that when applied to the windscreen, or any glass for that purpose, basically repels water.

i live in the uk and have searched in many places but not had much luck.
does anyone know what this product is?
when i said repel, what i mean is that the water just slides down instantly, doesn't stay on the windscreen.

anyone know of anything ??

thanks

Manish

+1. Just about any acrylic sealant (eg Acrylic Jett, Z2, SG) will have this effect and most last longer than RainX or whatever that other one is. Just seal over the whole car, windows and all, and you're golden.

+2 on using a paint sealant on the windshield.
When I'm applying Zaino, I just throw a layer on the front and rear glass and it does a great job of beading the water.

I've tried Rain-X in the past and wasn't really happy with it.

cheers guys!

ive never really waxed any off my cars, just a quick splash and thats its.
(mind you ive not a flash car before) but since its my first decent car, i thought id pay some more attention.

Waxing does sound like a very good idea, and will give it a go.
willl let you know what happens very soon!
thanks

Manish

let me tell you why...

my first ever car, was a good old Nissan micra, 12years old at the time i had bought it, and had 5 previous owners! and to be really honest, i did wash it with a sponge and 3 buckets of water. no biggy...

my second car was a french renault laguna! brand new, and this i had used a car wash solution.. turtle wax foam wash...
but that too with buckets of water. did it twice and didn't bother again.
just used a car wash!

third car (my present one) a vauxhall astra, brand new again, and this time too, only car washes and a few times, valeted by hand car wash guys.

i will be paying more attention to my new car,
its just that where i live, (flats, (or apartments for the americans here))
i don't have the priviledge to attach a hose pipe and do the works! id love to, but can't.

this time i will take it to a friends house and use all his gizmos to wash!

thanks again guys!
Manish

LOL..... the guy who let the rain washes his car owns an Acura TSX. Its his first car so he know nuts about keeping it clean and all that. For god sake, he even sat on the hood (with jeans that got those small metal pieces on the pockets) to take a pic....I am totally speechless when I saw that.
