HELP! Wiring Sub/Amp into stock amp
So i was in the process of wiring up the line level converter into the stock amp wiring harness in the trunk when I realized I was reading the wrong directions (reading logic 7). So i had to scrap all that and wire it up again which wasn't a big deal at least I had the right wires colors that needed to be spliced into now. Well so I thought. after wiring up the line level converter to the right wires on the factory amp according to the BSW instructions that I got from the BSM website I powered up the amp and plugged the RCA cables into the Input ports on the mono amp(red for the right channel, black for the left). And then turned on the car and tried to play some music to test it all out and nothing... speakers all worked but the sub didnt. so thats were I am and im stuck...
-I know the wiring from the amp to the sub is correct -I know the amp is getting power (lights on) -I know the amp is being turned on/off from the control wire from the head unit -Im 99% sure I wired up the line level converter correctly(checked it 3 times) What am I doing wrong?? A friend said I might need to splice into the wires pre amp. Is that true? are the colors of wire different(how would I differentiate between left and right and positive and negative, pre amp or amp output wires? To say the least im lost. I thought this would be a piece of cake but maybe im missing something. Also I played around with the RCA cables, and found that If I plug the left channel in the output port on the amp and the other rca in the right input it powers the sub but sounds like crap and has no power. This also works if I plug left in the input and right in the output. Am I missing something really obvious? Here's the Line level converter I picked up. Axxess AX-ALOC10 |

You need to identify the system
BMW stereo types

Thanks for all the links very helpful. I plan on working on this when I'm home from work tonight. But what I'm still unclear about is wether I should splice pre amp or after the amp(wires going to subs)?

You didn't identify the stereo
If you don't have logic 7 and have and amp you must have Hi Fi.
You could use the preamp signal in that case however you should be aware that the preamp to the Hi Fi uses a balanced differential signal. That means there are two signals that are 180 degrees out of phase which means you need and adapter that translates that output to single sided and does not necessarily attenuate it. If you are using a BSW setup there instructions should be sufficient and you should get in touch with them if you are having problems. If this is a BSW setup it looks like it would have come complete without the need to add a level converter. |

Logic 7 was standard in the 330 in 06
In the 325 I believe it was and option. Tell tale signs of Logic 7 are center speaker in dash 13 rather than 10 speakers tweeters contribute to the count.
The amp in back is silver in the logic 7 system black in the Hi Fi. |

I spliced my LOC to one of the sub channels. If your LOC has a ground wire, make sure to ground it. Also, you said you already have it hooked up and it isn't working? Make sure the adjustment on the LOC isn't all the way down.

If you remove the pop-out gray tray in the left rear corner of the trunk, is the amp: – missing? (base Stereo) – black in color (HiFi, pre-2011) – silver in color (Logic 7) – light gold in color and very small (HiFi, 2011) |

On my setup with Hi-Fi(07 328), which should be identical to yours, I tapped the rear speakers pre-amp and used the LOC. I got weird reverb when I tapped the "balanced" signal after the amp(the sub l and r underseat), I've heard it has something to do with a noise cancelling system or something of the like. Just my experience, I'm not sure if that's why it is.
