True, and utterly ridiculous!

328i M-Sport, Fully loaded = $55k
335i M-Sport, Fully Loaded = $59k

$55K is for a fully loaded 328i 'M-Sport'. The fully loaded 328i 'Sport' will run $53.5k.

You can easily option either of the 328i to past $60k by the way (adding active cruise, and some other fluffy stuff).

What does the FULLY loaded mean if not all options are included?
"Fully loaded, but not really"?

Porsche had the electric steering done right and BMW still half way on the design steering felt light but not as firm as E90.

Fully loaded for me is a car with all the "packages" not necessarily options. The ordering process is more complex nowadays.

You can tack on useless options all day long. Packages is where it's at. Still overpriced though.

I don't get that. The USD and CAN$ are almost equal. Worst case is we differ by a few pennies. Why the large difference? Can you buy in the States and take it home?

Really??? Holy crap!! That makes no sense. We (US and Canada) should be the same. Sorry bro. If it were up to me, you and I would be paying the same. I'm in Toronto and Ottawa every other month for work. It's like a second home for me.

Yep, with taxes to import and modify the car, it makes no sense. Might as well just buy it up here. Still hurts to see. Used cars are also more money up here also.

And BMW will argue the difference by saying they are different markets, different options, etc etc.

Import and modify! Shit, the boat stopped in Canada before it dropped off my car in Port Newark back in August 2012. If anything, it took more fuel to get my car to me than your car to you! That needs to be fixed.

Yea, not only are cars more expensive, everything is! Clothing, gas, insurance etc. Not to mention we have a 12% tax on practically everything we buy.

Income tax is ridiculous as well. 55% tax if you are making 100k+ a year, so in the end you only take home 50k.

/end rant

What? That much?

Federal in Canada is:
15% on the first $42,707 of taxable income, +
22% on the next $42,707 of taxable income (on the portion of taxable income over $42,707 up to $85,414), +
26% on the next $46,992 of taxable income (on the portion of taxable income over $85,414 up to $132,406), +
29% of taxable income over $132,406.

BC income tax is:

5.06% on the first $37,013 of taxable income, +
7.7% on the next $37,015, +
10.5% on the next $10,965, +
12.29% on the next $18,212, +
14.7% on the amount over $103,205

Alberta is just 10%

This may be correct. I am not working full time so I would not know. However, what I do know is that my parents are getting taxed definitely higher than 14%. Closer to 50%.

Next car will be F30 335i M-Sport for sure. However, that will be in about 4-5 years time

You are not calculating the tax correct. Read it carefully because what I wrote down is not "may be correct" is IS correct: direct form the GOC's website. You are taxed on portions of your income. Being taxed 14% at a PROVINCIAL level is on the amount over $103,205.00. The tax is calculated as per the chart on the rest of the income. You are only reading the BC portion of the tax and you are only reading the 14% that is taxed on the amount per year over 103,205. Do you not get that it says "on the amount OVER?"

The blanket statement you made is incorrect:

As to why you are posting your parents income is beyond me, chances are you have no idea on the taxes, firstly because your writing tells me you don't get how it works, and secondly because they don't keep you privy to their financials.

For example, if you make 100K a year in BC this means you owe the federal government in taxes per year:

$19893.95

And you would owe the BC government per year:

$7718.94

Which means your total taxes paid on $100,000.00 per year is: $27612.89

That is 27.6% tax in total.

You cannot double that amount for an income of 200k a year because you have to use the different tax brackets for the amount up to 132,406 and then over on federal, and then the same goes for the provincial, up to 103,205 and then over.
