E90 m sport front bumper and under tray
Hello, sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, not intentional.
Last night whilst coming home I saw the under tray hang off under my car when stopping for a coffee. Closer inspection today and it's clear something has ripped off the rubber lip that runs under the m sport bumper and worst still the amount of evidence of the previous owner ground the nose is alarming, I spoke to BMW and they are looking in to the AUC report to see if the underside was checked properly. I'm a bit OCD and would prefer the bottom of bumper, even through you can't see it, to be re painted, question will it just get scuffed again? I guess curbs and speed bumps are all potentially suffers....? Q2. Is the plastic undertray and rubber lip costly to replace? So far all I've got left is the main undertray and two flaps hanging down where clearly the centre rubber strip has been ripped off and caught on something. Any advice....cheers |

If you have an M Sport bumper and M Sport suspension, you are highly likely to scuff it on raised curbs
This is a very common area for scuffs Either reverse in to spaces, or, as I do, use the bottom of the mirror / edge of curb as a guide to make sure you stop in advance, nothing worse than the awful sound of scraping pain on curb stone re prices, you'll find some of the parts and their prices listed here: http://realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?mo...92&hg=51&fg=75 (couldn't ascertain if yours is LCI or not, link is to pre lci E90 320d) Last edited by coopersim; 02-01-2013 at 02:41 PM.. |

as above - mine did the same. Drove into a space with a low kerb, great until you back out and rip all the under carriage off. Made a right fookin mess of mine, ended up having to drill new holes and fit additional clips as all the clip holders snapped off
Bumper is scraped badly underneath now too, will have to wait till summer to see if it will polish out, but not visible from eye level. Incidentally the rubber strip had got sandwiched between the under trays, I too thought i had ripped it off but thank fully it was still there, just needed teasing back out again. |

Thank Guys, I thought this to be the case my is a UK Spec 2009 09 LCI 320d M Sport with 18 inch M Sport wheels and the M Sport Sus (lowered by 30mm I think over SE models?) It's pretty bad under there, the paint damage i accept but I think something has acutally torn off the rubber strip as the rivests are torn clean out of the main undertray! Over to BMW for a fix...Money £££.
Only had it 29 days, typical. |
