Service Time

Its getting to the time of year where I need to get MOT and service done. The following needs done. Where will be the best place to get them done near West London/Slough/Staines area for cheap. I prefer it to be BMW dealers to maintain the FBMWSH but I have been getting expensive quotes.

- MOT (£50ish)
- Oil Change (£230ish)
- Front brake Pads (£260ish)
- Brake Fluid Change (£120ish)

Spent £900 last month on the car so a bit tight on cash. What will you do?

MOT literally the cheapest place you can.. i had my old e92 done at halfords for £23 last year

oil change, source your own oil and get it done for labour only at the dealer, probably charge you £80 maybe

Pads and brake fluid, probably just suck that up :/

failing that could just go to birds, that nearby to you and go that route.. but not BMW main dealer

I need MOT and brake fluid change on my one and I got two different prices from stealers:
Tring bmw MOT £54, brakes serv. £98
Watford bmw MOT £54 brake serv £134
That's rip off in middle of the day. I don't understand why BMW just not starting charging as a £100 a month just for badge we driving.
I will use halfords for Mot because Half price.
Brakes I will do my self.

And the people who will gonna say if you can't afford bmw don't buy it.
PUCK YOU SELF.
Yes I can afford it just I'm greedy when it come to pay BMW. All Pucking my live when I used main stealers I got bad experience with them.

Have nice day everyone.

Tring and Watford are very expensive. Don't use Watford, they won't budge. Tried to give me a £1050 bill for MOT, service, brake fluid and replacing some cracked cover that cost £2....ON a 116i. They said they'd knock 10% off, I told them to "do one".

I think this is because they have a huge amount of fleet vehicles to service. Whenever I went in there the place was rammed with cars waiting to get serviced. 320d galore and usually a few M3's too. That's easy money for them.

Try MainDealerDiscount. I'm getting quotes lower than yours for the 335. Also definitely supply your own oil. You can probably pick up the 7/8 litres for £50 from Wilkinsons as there is an offer on at the moment.

BMW Redhill will do:

Oil Service (exc Microfilter): £154.10
Brake Fluid: £58.61
Microfilter: £45.67
Total: £258.37

Wouldn't quote on pads.

My advice would be get the oil service done at the dealer (supply your own oil) and get all the rest including the MOT done at a decent Indie but make sure they have the equipment to reset the brakes\fluid interval indicator.

The oil service is the only one for which it's important to get an official stamp in the service book IMO. Keep the invoice receipts for the rest of the work though as proof you've had it done.

MOT anywhere and service wise go to maindealerdiscount and put your reg and postcode in, you'll be surprised at the savings though you may need to travel a few miles to take advantage.

Is yours an AUC, if so you could get a service inclusive pack, works out cheaper as it covers your service for two years ?

Try Sytner as they do reduce their prices if you push them hard, especially if you have some comparable quotes from other dealers. Berry are normally very expensive.

- Halfords (£23 if it passes, or about £50 in total if it fails and you need a retest)
- Euro Car Parts // then get donw by dealers
- As above
- As above

I used Sytner BMW..after I bought all my service parts (oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, oil, front and rear brake pads and discs), I rang around and the best price I got was £138 from Sytner Sunningdale. Worst was £400 - for SERVICE ALONE! Won't name names though haha

Yeah but then supply own oil, also tell them you got a quote through Main Dealer Direct. That'll probably be £60 labor + £60 for oil, + £10 for your micro filter.

How far away are you from Warwick?

The closest dealer for me on Maindealerdiscount was something like 40 miles away. After a bit of postcode 'tweaking', I showed the quotation printout to my local dealer which said 25 miles away, so try it.

Warwick is about 60 miles so the fuel costs outweigh the saving.
