Has anyone been able to get Homelink to work?

In most of the threads I've looked at people say they have just given up on getting it to work. I've tried doing it a few times, following the directions in the manual with no luck. Anybody been able to get it to work?

I finally got it to work on both my garage doors and my neighborhood gate. It did take a while for the programming to catch but two things helped during programming: Holding the remote behind the mirror and new batteries in the remote.

I have it working with both types of garage door openers. It definitely did not work first time though, I had to find a "sweet spot" next to the mirror to hold the transmitter in... Be patient!

I had absolutely no problems setting it up with my two garage doors the first day I had the car. Mine are 15 year old Sears Craftsman 1/3HP openers.

My dealer couldn't set mine up. He said my openers weren't on the "BMW approved list"

I have a rolling code type opener which required the learn button on the motor itself. literally took 10 secs to program.

No problems here... I set my garage door and neighborhood gate without issue. Hold the transmitter close to the mirror and look for the blinking lights.

Most likely the OP has an opener with a Rolling Code. The Owners Manual is quite specific on how to handle.

well the first set of directions is universal to both rolling code and fixed code units. Thus far, I can't get past the instructions for the fixed code, so it doesn't matter what kind of code it is. I'm going to try to work on it some more tonight and see how that goes...

I have two different rolling-code openers ("old" and "new" Chamberlain) and they both programmed no problem. I just need to come up with something to use the third button for

It works the first time, everytime I have to reprogram it.

After following the first part of the instructions in the book to set your mirror button up:

Hit the "train" button on the opener unit in your garage and within 30 seconds press the mirror button 3 times (holding it for 2 seconds each time). On the 3rd push, it will open or close.

Mine is the Rolling Code type, and I got mine to work after a few attempts of understanding the instructions.
Like the previous poster, it's two parts (and you have to do the second within a few seconds of the first).
