DIY-Make your 330i sound a little better

OK maybe this as been post allready but I could not found any DIY about it

this mod is for the 330i it can't be done in the 325i, However I'm not sure is posible in the 328i and 335i you will have to see for your self.

I don't know if some of you as notice that the muffler have a valve that close at lower RPM and opens at higher RPM.

well I did a little mod so I can have the valve open all the time = depper and louder sound. :rocks:

what you need :
-3 zip ties
-something to cut the end of t zip ties.

DIY time: less than 5 mins
cost: less than $1 (I got a bag of 10 zip ties in wallmart for 96 cents)

ok this mod is easy to do and reversible so if you don't like it you have nothing to loose ( well the $1 & 5 mins of your life

)

steps:

1- wait for your car cold down, you don't want to touch the muffler hot!! I learn the hard way I totaly forgot about it, hurts like ...

2- get under your car and locate the muffler valve. (hit: is in the muffler left tip) ( see picture)

3- there is going to be a small black hose on the top of the valve just pull it off.

4- fold the hose and use the zip ties. ( see picture)

5- cut the extra of the zip tie and make suret hose does not touch the muffler.

6- turn your car and listen the difference

the computer will not show any errors or anything so everything is

I will try to see if I can post a video or a sound clip so you can hear the difference.

easy you don't need any tools just pull it up with your hand.

I just did a video no before and after but how does it sound with the mod. you will hear the difference :rocks: is uploading now to youtube it should be done in 15 mins

w/o a before and after theres really know way of telling the diffrence because the sound will vary so much depending on what recorded it, conditions it was recorded in ECT

Just wondering, but how did you come up with this? Are you sure this has no other effects on the car other than sound? Great DIY- I'll do this one after Christmas.

sorry to burst your bubbles, but doing this will cause liost of hp. LWL installed her kerscher exhaust and dynoed her car. she lost 10hp and was wondering why this exhaust could possibly make her lose hp. it turn out her valve was not plug in. she plugged it right in and dyno her car again and gain 10hp.

your seriouse? theres absolutly no reason for that to happen

well did some research and yea is call the golf tee mod, I read some of the post and no one mentions lost of HP so

well consider this thread "the golf tee mod for dummies"

I did it. And I feel the car when going at low rpms and In the step Mode First Gear. Its not as responsive like before. It responds well, but before it threww me to the seat harder.
