is V1 a good investment?

Hi everyone,

I want to get a radar, and i narrow it down to either 9500 or v1. Since the price is about the same, i tend to go with v1. Any input would be appreciated.
And, where did u guys get urs?
I saw it in there website for $399. https://store.valentine1.com/store/

I wonder Why ebay is charging higher? Is there any difference with the ebay one?And do they have any like latest version? I couldn't distinguish which is new and old....

Thanks,
Kei

Best investment EVER. Totally worth it. Do not take time to think about spending the 400 on this incredible radar.

Very much worth it, at least for the V1. I don't have experience with any others but my V1 has saved my butt numerous times. Oh, and don't buy it anywhere else than on the V1 site - that's the only legit place to get it (unless someone has a used one for sale - that's another story). Mine has been flawless for the past 6 yrs.

Nothing is "totally" safe - they can still get you without radar or laser and they do that quite often. You need to use your own eyes too...

Purchasing a V1 now is much better than paying off a ticket later.

V1s can only be purchased directly from V1, the refurbs sometimes goes for a bit cheaper.

I have an escort 8500 x50. I got it new for $180 (cost) becasue my wife worked for best buy at the time.

Otherwise I would own a V1. I am still thinking about bying a V1 and selling my 8500.

No radar detector will 100% save you. I've still been dinged while running mine. Instant on, at the bottom of a hill, 74 in a 65. What can you do? Nothing. Open wide.. Bend over.. Becasue its coming, no matter what.

+1 V1 Have had them for years! Only time I've got a ticket "with" mine is when "I" turned the volume down and forgot to turn it back up! But they work 99% of the time!

I have a dissenting opinion.

Many drivers tend to rely too much on these electronic aids and tend to not worry about what is going on around them.

I drive aware of my surroundings and make sure that I'm never the hotrod of the bunch. I suspect that I arrive at my destination sooner and more relaxed than those fools weaving in and out of traffic.

I've been driving for 35 years and my one and only "almost" ticket (knock on wood) was with a van, with a (at the time) quality detector at 2am on a lonely interstate. I never got a ticket because the cop couldn't figure out how to write it.

Back then, I had just come from Europe and still had my military driver's license, it was a new car and back then AR didn't issue temporary plates - you drove with no plates until the permanent ones came in. The cop decided to give me a warning instead of a ticket.

It'll not save you every time esp. when cop uses laser but it'll save you more than 90% of time.
And the very first time your V1 beeps for KA band and you slow down in the highway, that's the moment you recover your $400 investment on V1.

I honestly don't understand people who thinks 400 is too much money for a good detector while 1 ticket costs 500+ dollars and driving points.

+1. The V1 is not an e-ticket to speed nor an excuse for carelessness.

Call them up and ask for a referb unit. It comes in perfect condition and saves you ~$40.

Great radar, but it won't make you invincible. It does work really well tho, I really like mine. Saved me many times.
Great investment.

Thanks Guys, I am about to put my trigger on that, just have to think about more rational right now. Since i am leaving the country for 6 months from Jan, i might as well sell it at that time!

Just keep it. Store for 6 mo.
It's going to be exact same version (software) or if not, you can send to V1 and upgrade to newest version with small fee.

Do not sell it because you're going away for 6 mo. unless you really need that money.
