Summer tires and punctures

I've had 3 punctures in 3 different tires in 6 months with my Conti Extreme DW's. The first 2 were heavy duty staples, the most recent was a triangular shard of metal. Anyone else have this issue with summer tires? Is it that the stickier compound tends to pick up more shrapnel? Or is it just a rash of bad luck with me?

Sticky summer tires=soft rubber.

Soft rubber obviously will pick up nonsense better than hard rubber winter wheels or even all-seasons.

Just bad luck. You might pick up more sand or stones, but anything sharp enough to puncture a summer tire will puncture an all season tire just as easily.
